Oxbow Brewing Co. Sap HAUS Smoked Lager with Maple Syrup

I love a smoked lager. Some can be like barbecue in a glass. This beer h Oxbow Brewing Co. Sap HAUS Smoked Lager with Maple Syrup, 7% ABV. This beer takes eight weeks to produce in Newcastle, Maine, with real Maine maple syrup. This lager pours brown with a three-finger tan head that slowly fades. The beer has aromas of smoke with hints of maple sweetness. The flavor is sweet with maple and a little bit of smokiness. You don’t want too much smoke on a beer like this, nothing worse than drinking a campfire. Then this lager finishes with a light sweet smoked flavor that lingers in the aftertaste. When you get down toward the end of the maple becomes more pronounced. But over this is a good beer. Oxbow Brewing Co. Sap HAUS Smoked Lager with Maple Syrup is a B+. This smoked lager didn’t taste like you were drinking straight pure maple syrup. It had just the right amount of maple syrup flavor and smokey flavors. I would have this again. Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Royal Bliss Brewing Co. Citrus Jack Kevin Pale Ale

I hope everyone had a most enjoyable and happy Thanksgiving. This beer is up for review is Royal Bliss Brewing Co. Citrus Jack Kveik Pale Ale, 5.8% ABV. This brewer is in Denver, North Carolina. It is not very far from Charlotte. Kveik is a Norwegian yeast that is slightly similar to a lager yeast. This yeast is used in a few different styles of beer. This beer poured a funk gray color, which isn’t how a pale ale is supposedly colored. It is more of a yellow, orange juice color. I think this beer is going bad. But I’m not going to let that effects how I very this brewery. I have never had a beer from this brewery, nor have I heard of it. It has a one and a half finger of white quickly fading head. This beer’s aroma is tropical and citrusy with pineapple, melon, some mango, and orange. There is a very faint bitterness. The taste is similar to its aroma. I found pineapple, mango, melon, orange, and bitter flavors. There is an ashy flavor that is from it being a bad batch or something. It has a bitter finish. It also has a slightly fruity aftertaste with that ashy note. Now I may have to re-review this with a better batch. So I think Royal Bliss Brewing Co. Citrus Jack Kveik Pale Ale is a low C-. I got pasted the ashy flavor and focused on the fruity flavors. I will have to review this Pale Ale again soon. Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Westbrook Brewing company Rinse Repeat Galaxy Hallertau Blanc India Pale Ale

I took a few days off from writing just for a break, so I wouldn’t develop writer’s block. But here is Westbrook Brewing Company Rinse/Repeat Glaxay Hallertau Blanc India Pale Ale, 7% ABV. This beer is no longer being made, but you can still find it on shelves. With that said, I could not find any other info on this beer other than the label. This IPA is made with Galaxy, Hallertau Hops & Blanc Yeast. This particular beer is part of the Rinse/Repeat series that features different types of hops/yeast in each beer. This IPA is a current series. This IPA pours a hazy yellow color with a two-finger bright white head. The home of this IPA is tropical, pineapple, and citrus grapefruit with a bitter grassy note. The flavor is tropical and juicy with pineapple, grapefruit, and grassy hoppy flavors. The mouthfeel is full. It finishes with a fruity hoppy grass flavor that carries of into the aftertaste then fades. Westbrook Brewing Company Rinse/Repeat Glaxay Hallertau Blanc India Pale Ale is a good solid IPA. I’d say it’s an A. This beer has a good hop profile that goes very well with the yeast combining for a delicious IPA. I highly recommend it! Please be kind, stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Shiner Beer Straight Shooter Juicy Dill Pickle Craft Brewed Hard Seltzer

I haven’t had too many hard seltzers, and I find them as a whole to be a little one-sided. When you have a citrus IPA, you have the flavor of the IPA with the citrus. A hard seltzer has the bubbles and whatever flavor you have added. This seltzer is Shiner Beer Straight Shooter Juicy Dill Pickle Craft Brewed Hard Seltzer, 4.5%. It pours a clear color with loads of carbonation bubbles. The aroma is vinegary and spiced. The flavor is vinegary, light dill notes, spiced. The mouthfeel is lite and carbonated. This seltzer finish with a decent amount of carbonation and a vinegar pickle that carries into the aftertaste. This drink is just plain with a decent about of pickle flavor. I give This is Shiner Beer Straight Shooter Juicy Dill Pickle Craft Brewed Hard Seltzer a C+. The flavor on this is decent but not complex at all. If you like pickles and you love hard seltzers then this is for you. I found it average as best. Please be kind, be safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Holy City Brewing Pluff Mud Porter

A porter-style beer gets its name from the river porters in London that unloaded the boats. This particular porter is Holy City Brewing Pluff Mud Porter, 5.5&% ABV. Brewed in Charleston, South Carolina, this porter pours a black color with a one-finger beige head that slowly dissipates. The aroma is of roasted coffee, licorice, malt notes, and a little sweetness. Taste is similar, licorice, roasted notes, sweet, and malty. It finishes with a nice semi-sweet roasted malt flavor. It has a bittersweet aftertaste that has bits of a malt roast. This porter is easy to drink with good flavors. Holy City Brewing Pluff Mud Porter is a B+. It’s not strong anyway. It has all the flavors of a good porter and without being too strong. I Think Holy city is a great brewery, and you should try this porter. Please be kind, be safe, and please enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Spoetzl Brewery Heritage Edition Shiner Bock Beer

There is nothing different about Spoetzl Brewery Heritage Edition Shiner Bock Beer, 4.5% ABV. Its only difference is the label harkens back to points in the lifespan of Shiner Bock. Each beer in the six-pack has a different retro label. Before I get into the review, would I like to thank the KLG Public Relations firm for this beer. This beer pours deep brown/copper color. It has a half-finger white quick head. The aroma is slightly sweet and malty, with bread notes. The taste is very similar to the way it smells. The taste is slightly sweet and malty, it has a bread-like taste and the flavor is smooth. It finishes smooth with a nice bit of sweetness. Its aftertaste is a bit malty with some light sweet bread notes. This Shiner Bock is not strongly sweet. It is a tasty beer. I give Spoetzl Brewery Heritage Edition Shiner Bock Beer a B+. It has a slightly lager beer quality to it. It’s a good bock-style beer. It’s easy to drink. I could have four or so. If you have not had this widely distributed beer, then you should. Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly!

Estuary Beans & Barley 25 Island Wide Hazy IPA

This new beer is Estuary Beans & Barley 25 Island Wide Hazy IPA, 6.0% ABV. This particular brewing company brews beer as well as coffee. They are on James Island, South Carolina. This Hazy IPA pours a hazy yellow with a two-finger fluffy white head that slowly dissipates. The beer’s aroma is fruity with citrus, passionfruit, and pine notes. The taste is tropical and with passionfruit and melon. This hazy beer is piney, bitter with biscuit and wheat. It finishes with a light wheat/biscuit hoppy flavor. It has a bitter aftertaste that lingers then fades into a soft fruity bitterness. Estuary Beans & Barley 25 Island Wide Hazy IPA isn’t trying hard to be an IPA, and that’s good. It is easy to drink without being overpowering on the flavor profile. It has the right IPA flavor profile. I give it an A+. Something that I recommended having. It is going high on my list of good beers! Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly!

Captain Lawrence Brewing Co. & Snyders of Hanover Snyder Bier Pretzel Märzen

I was getting a lot of social media advertisements about this beer recently. It did sound like a great beer that I would like to try. So I was out at my local Winestore and spotted Captain Lawerence Brewing Co. & Snyder’s of Hanover Snyder Bier Pretzel Märzen, 5.0% ABV. This beer, a collaboration between Captain Lawerence Brewing Co. in Elmsford, New York, and Snyder’s of Hanover pretzel snack company, is owned by Lance here in Charlotte, North Carolina. This October-fest style beer pours a copper/light brown color with a two-and-a-half finger off-white head. The aroma is malty, bread, semi-sweet with a salty note. The taste is a malty, salt, bead, a richness like Snyder’s October fest dark pretzels. This beer then finishes with a malted medium salted. The aftertaste is very similar to the aftertaste of Snyder’s October fest pretzels. This beer is a very delicious beer and a great combination. I give Captain Lawerence Brewing Co. & Snyder’s of Hanover Snyder Bier Pretzel Märzen an A+. It’s like being at Octoberfest without actually being there. It’s Octoberfest in a can. I highly recommend it! It’s not a beer that overpowers your tastebuds. I could have an entire four-pack of sixteen ounces. I hope that this beer will be here every year. It’s that good! Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Southern Barrell Brewing Co. Beach Bully Pale Ale, 5.4% ABV, is made in Bluffton, South Carolina. I was gifted this beer along with a few others that by my good friends and neighbors. I will review the others later. Thank you to them. Beach Bully Pale Ale pours a yellow color and has a cloudiness to it, and it has a two and a half finger white sticky head. The aroma is fruity with citrus and mango. There are bitter hoppy notes as well. The taste is similar to the way it smells. There is mango and citrus among a nice bitter/hoppy flavor that does fade as it passes over your tongue. Beach Bully Pale Ale finishes with a light bitter fruit flavor. The aftertaste is bitter and with a slight fruit note. Southern Barrel Brewing Co, Beach Bully Pale Ale is refreshing and good. I give this a B+. It is slightly more IPA-like than Pale Ale. But it is not too much like an IPA that has an identity crisis. It’s more of a hoppy Pale Ale. I recommend Southern Barrel Brewing Co. Beach Bully Pale Ale. Please be kind, be safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

I think they are going for a wider appeal with this lager, and not just trying to please the taste buds of the craft beer enthusiast. But I think it will not make a craft beer enthusiast pour this out. I found it not to be so bad, kind of good actually. I will even recommend it. So try it sometime.
