Triple C Brewing Co. Neon Signs American Lager

Locally brewed here in Charlotte, North Carolina Triple C Brewing Co. Neon Signs American Lager, 5.7% ABV purchased from JJ’s Red Hots (a great hotdog/sausage restaurant). Neon Signs pours a nice golden yellow color with a two and a half slow fading white pillowy head. The aroma coming off this American Lager is semi-sweet with nice malted biscuit and light citrus notes. Neon signs have that great lager aroma that did make me thirsty for a sip. I took that sip, and I got some semi-sweet notes of citrus, malts, and bread/biscuits with a very faint bitter note that is almost like it’s not there. The mouthfeel is light, and Neon Signs finish with a refreshing light sweetness and carries that light sweetness into the aftertaste along with a bit of maltiness. Triple C Brewing Co. Neon Signs American Lager is a tasty Lager, an A. If you ever come across this Lager beer, you will not be disappointed. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer The Beginning Is After The End Coffee Porter

Burial Beer The Beginning Is After The End Coffee Porter, 6.5% ABV from Asheville, North Carolina. This coffee porter brewed with Counter Culture Coffee, which uses beans from Onyx Coffee Labs in Arkansas. The Beginning Is After The End pours black with brown edges and a yow finger quickly fading beige head. The aroma on this porter has nice roasted coffee notes, a little caramel, and malty aromas with a very faint dark dried plum. The Beginning Is After The End has a nice full roasted coffee flavor at first. There is a nice malt caramel that has a nice roasted, faint bitter dark fruit finish with a lingering caramel coffee aftertaste. The mouthfeel thick but not too full mouthfeel. Burial Beer The Beginning Is After The End is a good Coffee Porter, an A from me, and something that should be worth a try. It has all the right coffee flavors without overdoing it. I love Burial Beer, and so should you! Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Throwback Thursday: Fullsteam Brewery Fearrington Winter Coffee Pecan Porter

Originally postes April 19th, 2015

One of my favorite styles of beer is coffee beer, whether is a Stout or Porter. They are quite popular among craft beer drinkers. This here is Fullsteam Brewery Fearrington Coffee Pecan Porter, 6.0% ABV. Fullsteam is here in Durham, NC. Fearrington Coffee Pecan Porter using Southern pecans and Fearrington Village Coffee beans. Fearrington Coffee Pecan Porter pours a deep dark black color with a two-finger brown/beige head that slowly fades into a ring round the glass leaving nice thick lacing behind. I found no light through the glass with a little amount of carbonation bubbles. The aroma is fresh with roasted coffee beans and hints of chocolate. The taste is like a nice cup of good coffee and you don’t get much of the pecans. The coffee flavor hinds those pecans. There is a nice light chocolate flavor there that turns a little spicy as this porter warms a bit. But it isn’t an overwhelming spice. The bitterness is low and it allows for the sweetness of the beer to come through a bit. But this porter isn’t overly sweet. It has a nice balance of sweetness with the coffee roasted flavors. The mouthfeel is medium. I thought this was a little thin tasting for a coffee porter. Fearrington Coffee Pecan Porter has a nice chocolaty coffee finish that fades into a semi-sweet nutty and roasted aftertaste. I think that Fearrington Coffee Pecan Porter is a good beer. So I give it a B+. The pecan flavor is not really present until the finish. But Fullsteam Fearrington Coffee Pecan Porter is still good. I enjoyed this and I might have this again, and I recommend that you go out and try it too. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Bhramia Brewing Company I Voted Today

Bhramia Brewing Company (Asheville, North Carolina) I Voted Today, 5.)% ABV is a Double-dry hopped Pale Ale brewed in conjunction with Tired Hands Brewing (Ardmore, Pennsylvania). I Voted Today is a double dry-hopped pale ale with Sabro & Mosaic hops. This pale ale is pale ale pours a yellow color with a bright white two finger head that slowly fades into itself. The aroma is lemony, grass, with a bitterness. Its flavor is also grassy with lemon and bitter with a faint pine flavor. It finishes with a nice bit of bitter grass and lemon and carries that lemon into the aftertaste with enough bitter flavor to show that it’s double dry-hopped. Bhramia Brewing Company I Voted Today was refreshing and quite good. The lemon did taste the slightest bit off, but it receives a B+. Bhramia Brewing Company I Voted Today brewed by many other breweries and is one Pale Ale you should try. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers

Burial Beer Ritual Anonymity Pilsner

Ritual Anonymity Pilsner, 5.2% ABV, is from Burial Beer in Asheville, North Carolina. Ritual Anonymity made with Epiphany Craft Malt, barley, and oats. Double-dry hopped with Galaxy and Kohatu hops. Burial Beer said that this Pilsner is hoppy. Ritual Anonymity pours a light yellow with a bright white three finger head. It gives off hoppy lemon notes with a bit of a grassy note. It smells like a pale ale is mating with a pilsner. The flavor is similar to the way it smells of a nice hoppy lemon grassy flavor with a touch of faint sweetness that you might find in a traditional pilsner beer, a nice hoppy flavor. Ritual Anonymity has a light mouthfeel. It comes to a pilsner sweet and hoppy finish with a light hop pilsner aftertaste with a very faint lemon note. Burial Beer Ritual Anonymity Pilsner is a good beer. It is a nice take on a Pilsner beer that I found to be refreshing and tasty. I give Ritual Anonymity an A. I recommend you try this beer. This beer not overly hoppy nor bitter. It has the right amount of both. I would most definitely have Burial Beer Ritual Anonymity again! Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Throwback Thursday: Left Hand Brewing Co. Hard Wired Nitro Coffee Porter

Originally posted on March 13th, 2016.

Coffee for a long while has been a popular ingredient in beer brew, so much so that it has become its sub-style within some styles of beer, like Porter, Stouts, Browns, and even a few blondes and IPAs have been infused with coffee. Some brewers collaborate with a coffee roaster to brew a beer. Left Hand Brewing Co. in Longmont Colorado brewers this, Hard Wired Nitro Coffee Porter, 6.0% ABV. I have received this beer from Brewpublik (www.brewpublik.com) Now you’re asking yourself what is the nitro in this Porter? Well, nitro or Nitrogen is a transparent and odorless gas. When applied with beer during the brewing process it allows for a draft like taste and appearance to beer a beer without using a widget in the can or bottle. This can give a creamier and tighter head to beer, similar to a draft beer. Left Hand does brew Hard Wired without said Nitro, and they recommend that you pour hard with this and all their nitro beers. Hard Wired pours a black color with a creamy three-finger tight beige head that looks like coffee ice cream. Lots of thick lacing is left behind. When you pour this beer you can see the Nitrogen at work cascading down like falling snow. The aroma is of freshly ground and brewed coffee with hints of chocolate. The taste is so smooth with a nice roasted smooth chocolate flavor that makes this taste like a Mocha Coffee. I would say this bee is almost an easy drinker. The mouthfeel is medium to almost full but rich with a creamy flavor. Hard Wired nitro has a nice smooth sweeter finish with an after taste of chocolate and Mocha coffee flavor. Man, this Porter is outstanding. I would have this over and over again, and would highly recommend Hard Wired Nitro Coffee Porter. So with that said, I give this beer an A+. This is one heck of a great beer and the nitro is a neat and very delicious addition to a good solid coffee Porter! Go try it! Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Mecktoberfest pours a lighter copper orange color with one and a half white finger head with a steady fade to it. The aroma is semi sweet with a bit of malt and faint bread note. Now the flavor is wha t you’d expect from an Octoberfest beer with nice light sweet malt led notes with a nice lager flavor. Mecktoberfest finishes crisp with a hint of malt and some lager and it has a nice light sweet lager after taste all with a medium mouthfeel. This is only available during the end of September and all throughout October. It’s a good solid Octoberfest beer that I give an A. It is one that is really worth trying. It is not to heavy with any one flavor or heavy over all. I always in enjoy a good Olde Mecklenburg Brewery beer. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
