  • Friday, November 6th. “Black is Beautiful” Black IPA with Strawberry & Lactose Beer Release. Town Brewing Company. 2 pm.

Black is Beautiful”
Black IPA with Strawberry and Lactose
6.9%
~Strawberry-Chocolate-Hoppy~Hopped as a NEIPA, we added a heavy dose of Belma, Mandarina Bavaria, Mosaic, El Dorado, and Citra to this Black IPA to impart citrus and berry notes, further enhanced by the addition of over 500 lbs of juicy strawberries in the fermenter. Mild roast and chocolate notes compliment the strawberry and hop-derived citrus aromas, and a subtle addition of lactose provides just enough body and residual sweetness to create a unique interpretation of the increasingly less common Black IPA style.Black Is Beautiful Black IPA with Strawberry & Lactose will be released at our taproom on Friday November 6th starting at 2pm.Draft only (or crowlers and growlers to go). This beer was born in collaboration with L.A. McCrae, activist and founder of Black Star Line Brewing of Henderson, NC that sadly closed in 2017. We reimagined a popular Black Star Line recipe to produce a juicy, medium-bodied, fruited Black IPA. L.A. was a panelist on our Many Faces Diversity Panel which aired in July, and we have been itching to work together again to continue the conversation and to continue to demonstrate our commitment to both racial justice and to building a more diverse craft beer landscape.100% of net proceeds from the sale of this beer will benefit “Unknown and Forgotten Pain” This newly formed non-profit is a movement centering on the healing of black family members who have lost loved ones to police violence. Founded by Najiyyah, the mother of Jerry Williams who was killed by Asheville Police in 2016, “Unknown and Forgotten Pain” raises awareness to the profound human cost of losing a loved one to police violence. Najiyyah joined us on the brew day, sharing with us her story and her memories of her son Lil’ Jerry. Her strength is nothing short of inspirational. In the wake of her son’s death, she has raised his children, all while dealing with the intense grief of losing her son – grief that remains raw every day as we continue to be flooded with new stories of people of color losing their lives to police violence.

LEFT BRAIN DEAD Collab w/  New Anthem Beer Project(Wilmington, NC) – Quad IPA // 11% ABV // Hopped with Strata, Simcoe, Comet, and Amarillo. The name is a reference to the Left Brain (which is thought to control reason and analytical thinking) dying and thus making an irrational decision to make a silly 11% ABV IPA. It’s going down way too easy to be 11%. WEEKEND SAFETY BRIEF – Hazy IPA // 7% ABV // We’re excited to bring y’all back this annual release brewed with 2020 YCH Veteran’s Blend. Dank, dripping melon, and peak-of-ripeness tropical fruit. Brewed to commemorate Veteran’s Day with our two resident veterans, Jon and Luke. We created this beer to allow the 2019 Yakima Chief Hops Veteran’s Blend to shine ($3/lb goes to Wounded Warriors Project and we used A LOT), along with a helping of our hand-selected Citra. The mouth and aromas on this one are incredible. $1 from every pint in the taproom will go to a Veteran support 501c3 in our community. **DRAUGHT ONLY** HOT TAKES: NO ONE LIKES CANDY CORN // 6.75% ABV // Kettle Sour with Sour Patch Kids for all the sour-then-sweet. Return of our Halloween favorite from last year. 11/5

NO SIGNAL – HALLOWEEN EDITION Collab w/ Stout Collective – Kettle Sour w/ a ton of Raspberry, Black Currant, Sweet Cherry, and Marshmallows. Collaboration with Stout Collective as a part of their working for the beer project. No Signal, the name, is a reference to how, in horror movies, the characters always lose a phone signal so they can’t call for help. It also refers to the current day nightmare of losing a zoom signal…

Mild roast and chocolate notes complement the strawberry and hop-derived citrus aromas, and the subtle addition of lactose provides just enough body and residual sweetness to create a unique interpretation of the increasingly less common Black IPA style. Black Is Beautiful Black IPA with Strawberry & Lactose will be released at our taproom on Friday, November 6th starting at 2 pm. Draft only (or crawlers and growlers to go). This beer was born in collaboration with L.A. McCrae, activist, and founder of Black Star Line Brewing of Henderson, NC that sadly closed in 2017.
