Resident Culture Brewing Company Riding For The Feeling

Brewed locally in Charlotte, North Carolina, Resident Culture Brewing Company Riding For The Feeling, 5% ABV is an Italian style Pilsner hopped with Hallertau, Mittlefruh, German, Saphir, and Hersburker hops. This pilsner pours a yellow color with a three-finger stead white head with nice lacing left behind. Its aroma is light and biscuity with a little sweetness. The flavor of this pilsner is biscuity with some light sweet/crips notes, a very faint lemon-like note. The mouthfeel is light and refreshing. It finishes with a crisp biscuit note and carries a little of the into the aftertaste with a hint of sweetness. I do like a nice pilsner now and again. They can be nice after all those big lactose IPA and pastry stouts, and I think that pilsner could be the next trend in craft beer. Resident Culture Brewing Company Riding For The Feeling is a good Italian Pilsner and I give it a solid B. It has a nice crisp flavor that doesn’t overpower your tastebuds and it’s a welcome addition to the otherwise big heavy flavored beer out there. I recommend Resident Culture Brewing Company Riding For The Feeling. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Allagash Brewing Co. Fine Acre Organic Golden Ale

Allagash Brewing Co, in Portland Maine is one of the best breweries on the east coast and this is Allagash Brewing Co. Fine Acre Organic Golden Ale, 5.5% ABV. This beer has an all-organic malt bill. The golden ale style originated in Belgium and is quite popular in Belgium, Europe, and the United States. Fine Acre pours a cloudy golden yellow color with a three-finger bright white head that slowly dissipates. The aroma is somewhat sweet with a nice light lemon and banana. Fine Acre has a sweet and dry flavor, yeast notes, banana, very faint lemon, and a bit of malt. The mouthfeel is all most full, and this beer finishes with a light dry sweetness that carries on into the aftertaste. As usual for Allagash Brewing Co. Fine Acre Organic Golden Ale is pretty good, but I still think Duvel Belgian Golden Ale is the best. I give this particular golden ale a B. This is a solid example of the Golden Ale style. It does have a bit of heavier mouthfeel and flavor than some golden ales, and this one is not as high in alcohol as some either. But I enjoy this one and you should too! Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Brewery Huyghe Derlirium Tremens

Imported from Melle Belgium, Brewery Huyghe Delirium Tremens, 8.5% is a golden ale. It is most notable for having a pink Elephant on its packaging. Tremens pour a beautiful golden color with a two-and-a-half finger bright white head and plenty of carbonation. The aroma is sweet with a fruitiness, mostly apple-like, with a very faint bitter note. Taste of Tremens is a nice sweet fruity note with a slightly dry bitterness with a lighter mouthfeel. This beer has a little sharpness that quickly hits in the finishes with a little bitterness and then lingers with effervescent and a dry light/faint apple. This is a great beer that is shy of Duvel but still good. Brewery Huyghe Delirium Tremens is an A, just shy of Duvel, which you should try as well as Tremens. This is an excellent beer with a great flavor profile. Cheers! Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly!

Chimie Cinq Cents

Chimay Cinq Cents, 8% ABV, from Baileux, Belgium is a Tripel and is otherwise known as Chimay White, because of its white label. I purchased this from my local Harris Teeter grocery store here. This is a Trappist Ale, brewed by Belgian monks. This Tripel pours a golden color with a four finger thick creamy white snowy head that has slow retention. The aroma is fruity with banana and some yeasted notes The flavor is also banana fruity with nice amounts of effervescence and some cloying yeast flavors. The mouthfeel is medium and has a nice strong but fruity finish. The aftertaste of some light fruity yeast does not stick around for long. Chimay Cinq Cents is a fabulous beer and is well-deserving of an A+. It is a true example of a Belgian Tripel. If you haven’t had this beer then you are missing out. I highly recommended having Chimay Cinq Cents. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Double Barley Brewing Thrilla In Vanilla Imperial Porter

Double Barley Brewing Thrilla In Vanilla Imperial Porter, 8% ABV from Smithfield North Carolina. This porter is brewed with whole Bourbon Madagascar Vanilla beans, and homemade vanilla extract. This porter pours a black color with a two-finger tan head that doesn’t stay very long. The aroma is sweet with big vanilla and some slightly bitter notes. The taste has a big vanilla sweetness with some light caramel and some bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to an almost fullness. Thrilla In Vanilla finish with a light bittersweet flavor from the vanilla and lingers on into the aftertaste. This is just a big vanilla porter which isn’t bad. I would say Double Barley Brewing Thrilla In Vanilla Imperial Porter is a B+. After two of these beers, the vanilla flavor would become a bit much and you’d have a different beer or just stop drinking beer. That not to say it’s bad a little bit of this flavor goes a long way, but I do recommend it. please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Stone Brewing Fear. Movies. Lions Double IPA

No you are not seeing a labeling mistake on this can of Stone Brewing Fear. Movies. Lions Double IPA 8.5% ABV. It is supposed to be upside down, because of their saying Leave No Stone Unturned. This double IPA is made with Loral & Mosaic hops, and is a 2019 gold medal winner at the San Diego International Beer Competition. Fear. Movies. Lions is her only beer I’ve seen that comes in a sixteen ounce six pack instead of the usual four pack sixteen ounce. Fear. Movies. Lions pours a light copper gold color with a two and a quarter finger white head with some good retention. The aroma is bitter, there is onion, garlic, a bit of light fruit. Taste of Fear. Movies. Lions is somewhat similar to its aroma, there is onion and garlic bitterness with hoppy fruity notes, and a medium mouthfeel. Fear. Movies. Lions finish strong with bitter notes of a light fruit flavor and has the same in the aftertaste that linger with a hoppy bitter note. I found Stone Brewing Fear. Movies. Lions Double IPA to be good and slightly on the song side, I say this double IPA is a B-. The onion, garlic and fruity notes clashed together in a microscopic way. But it was not terrible enough to make me not like this beer, I do recommend Stone Brewing Fear. Movies. Lions Double IPA if you like IPAs. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Cabarrus Brewing Co. Cabarrus Cotton Blonde Ale

Cabarrus Brewing Co. Cabarrus Cotton Blonde Ale, 4.7% is not so far from me in Concord, North Carolina. Cabarrus is the county in which Concord is. This blonde ale is a cream ale. Cabarrus Cotton pours gold with a two-finger semi-quick fading head. There is a slightly sweet fruity aroma to it, but it thin at best. The favor is semi-sweet with some slight fruit flavor. There is a metallic note that comes along on the back of your tongue. The flavors on this cream ale is a thin and bit week. The mouthfeel is light. Cabarrus Cotton finishes with off-putting metallic flavors. It has no real aftertaste. It just ends once you swallow this awful beer. With that said, I give Cabarrus Brewing Co. Cabarrus Cotton Blonde Ale an F+. It starts fine for two seconds in your mouth, then quickly gets worse as it passes through your mouth and over your tongue, and ends with terrible taste. I wouldn’t go for this if I were you. It’s not a cream ale, in my opinion. Yes, it has some sweet notes, but it has fruity notes, which aren’t cream ale flavors. Metallic flavors a certainly not in a cream ale, let alone any beer. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Wicked Weed Brewing guilty Pleasures S’Mores Imperial Stout

Wicked Weed Guilty Pleasures S’Mores Imperial Stout, 9% ABV. The last beer in the Guilty Pleasures variety pack. S’Mores brewed with chocolate, vanilla, and cinnamon. This imperial stout pours black with a one and half finger beige steady fading head. The nose is sweet with vanilla, some cinnamon, and chocolate. The taste is somewhat similar to the nose, and you get vanilla/chocolate sweetness, a bit of a dry not from the chocolate, and some light cinnamon. The mouthfeel is thick with a bit of milk like creaminess. S’Mores imperial stout finishes with a bit of a roasted burnt/ashy. The burnt/ashy flavors carry into the aftertaste with a boldness. That was not good, and it was a bit off-putting. I would say Wicked Weed Guilty Pleasures S’Mores Imperial Stout is not that great, and I would give it a D+. The aftertaste was just not great. But the initial flavor was okay.

Now Wicked Weed Brewing Guilty Pleasures variety pack overall was not that great. Some of the beers were not good. Some of the flavors didn’t seem to belong in the beer. I give Wicked Weed Brewing Guilty Pleasures variety pack a D-. I would not recommend purchasing it at all. It is too much money for not great beer. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Wicked Weed Brewing Guilty Pleasures German Chocolate Cake Imperial Stout

Wicked Weed Brewing Guilty Pleasures German Chocolate Cake Imperial Stout, 8.8% ABV is the third beer in The Guilty Pleasures variety four-pack. This beer pours a thick black color with a three-finger rocky beige head that slowly dissolves. It gives off sweet chocolate/coconut aromas with a slight roasted coffee note. The flavor is bittersweet with some chocolate, coconut, and roasted coffee. Mouthfeel is thicker. There is a semi-sweet finish that has more bitterness, similar to dark chocolate. The aftertaste is bittersweet with a vanilla coffee. The aftertaste is only around for a quick minute, poof it’s gone. Overall Wicked Weed Brewing Guilty Pleasures German Chocolate Cake Imperial Stout is the best so far, getting a B-. It has a little too much bitterness on it, and the coconut flavor is average at best. This beer taste like your average German chocolate cake. It’s not a bad pick of the bunch. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Wicked Weed Brewing Guilty Pleasures Milk & Cookies Imperial stout

Wicked Weed Brewing Milk & Cookies Imperial Stout, 8.5%, is the second beer from their Guilty Pleasures variety four-pack. This imperial stout, made with golden raisins, cinnamon, and vanilla. It pours black with a one and a half finger beige head that is slow to fade away. The aroma is sweet with big vanilla, some slight cinnamon. Now the taste is sweet with vanilla, roasted like malt flavors. Some light raisin and, there is a cinnamon flavor on the back of your tongue. Milk & Cookies finishes with a nice amount of cinnamon and some faint vanilla sweetness that then carries on to the aftertaste that lingers with a roasted cinnamon note. This beer is better than the Brownie imperial stout. I give Wicked Weed Brewing Guilty Pleasures Milk & Cookies Imperial Stout a C+. It wasn’t bad. I found it average. There are better sweet imperial stouts out there. If you come across this beer, it wouldn’t be a substandard selection, in my opinion. I am not a big fan of cinnamon, but I don’t mind it. I wouldn’t rush to have this again. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
