Boulevard Brewing Co. Dank 7 Belgian-Style IPA

Boulevard Brewing Co., in Kansas City, Missouri makes Dank 7 Belgian-Style IPA has been brewing since 1988, but in 2013, Belgian brewer Duvel Moortgat Brewery purchased Boulevard. This brewery is the 12th largest brewery in the United States. This beer is 7%ABV and has seven different hops. The name of this beer is a take on Tank 7 Saison. Bravo, Chinook, Columbus, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Topaz are the seven hops. This IPA pours yellow with a two-finger white head that fades steadily. The aroma is light on the bitterness, hoppy, and breaded. The bitterness is more present in the taste with hoppy bread notes and has a light body. This has a lighter on the mouthfeel. Then it finishes with a bitter hop note. The aftertaste is where the bitterness grows a bit before falling off. This is a good beer. It was not as Belgian-IPA as I was expecting. I give Dak 7 Belgian-style IPA a B. Yes, I would recommend Dank 7. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Weihenstephaner & St. Bernardus Braupakt Blonde Ale

This beer Braupakt (Brewing Pact) is a Blonde Ale, a collaboration between Weihenstephaner of Freising, Germany & St. Barnardus of Watou, Belgium. This beer is 6.5% ABV. This beer was first produced in 2018 with Weihenstephaner and Sierra Nevada. Now six years later we have the sequel. The two breweries, St. Bernardus and Weihenstephaner have monks as the faces of their beers. The idea behind this unique collaboration was to brew a filtered, strong, top-fermented beer. This beer has Belgian hops from St. Bernardus, yeast, and malt from Weihenstephaner. That sounds like a great combination. This blonde ale pours yellow with a thick two-finger creamy white head. The aroma is spicy, clean, dry, and light banana You really smell the Weihenstephaner yeast. The flavor is clean, dry, banana, and spiced. The banana flavor is a bit more pungent than the rest. This has a medium mouthfeel. The finish is semi-sweet with banana and light hops. The aftertaste is more of the banana with a dryness. This is a fantastic beer. This Braupakt is an A+. Don’t miss this one, either in six-packs or singles. It is delicious. The German yeast and malts go well with the Belgian hops They combine into a great collaborative blonde ale. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Samual Smith Pure Brewed Organic Lager Beer

Samual Smith in Tadcaster, England is such an underrated brewery. This is their Pure Brewerd Organic Lager Beer, at 5% ABV. This beer is imported by Mercent DuVin. This Lager has water, organic malted barley, yeast, organic hops, and carbon dioxide. This lager pours a clean gold with a three-finger bright white head. The head sticks around for a good while. The aroma is clean and sweet, with some light-bread notes. The flavor is soft, crisp, clean, and has a bit of creaminess. This beer has a nice clean and semi-sweet finish. The aftertaste is crisp and refreshing with a bit of malt. This Samual Smith Lager is a great beer probably one of the best. This is an A+, and shouldn’t be missed. Firestone Walker Brewing Company Mind Haze Cosmic Crusher Juicy Imperial IPA

Mind Haze is a Firestone Walker IPA, and Mind Crusher is an Imperial IPA. This IPA is part of the Mind Haze IPA series with Brain Melter. This imperial IPA is 9.5% ABV with Galaxy, Strata, Callista, Melon, and Simcoe hops. It also has 2-Row, White Wheat, and Malted Oats malts. Firestone Walker ferments Cosmic Crusher in one-hundred percent stainless steel tanks. This beer comes in six-packs, tallboys, and a mixed twelve-pack with four different Mind Haze beers. I probably need to review all of those beers. This IPA pours a deep orange/yellow with a two-finger steady fading white head. This beer has a juicy fruit and a bitter aroma. The flavor is juicy tropical fruits (mango, peach, pineapple, and a bit of orange), smooth, and bitter. This has a medium mouthfeel. The finish is tropical, juicy, and bitter. The aftertaste is tropical fruits and softness. This beer does not taste as strong as you see on the label, but it’s not light. Cosmic Crusher is a good beer A+. I highly recommend having one. It’s a real tropical treat. You really get a great tropical juicy taste with this one. That makes you come back to this beer again. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Summerfest Sumer Lager

Summerfest Summer Lager from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is a new seasonal beer, available only from April through July. This is a Pilsner that is 5% ABV. This Pislner has Munich, Pilsner, and Two-row Pale malts. It has Munich, Pilsner, and Two-row Pale hops. Lager yeast is used here as well. This beer pours gold with a thin clear/white head, that goes quickly. The aroma is crisp and clean, and it has a light sweetness. The flavor is smooth, clean, and crisp. It has a sweetness to it with a light hoppy flavor. The mouthfeel is light. This beer has a crisp finish, sweet yet bitter, and smooth aftertaste. This tastes more like a lager than a pilsner It’s refreshing and the overall flavor is not too strong and/or overpowering. This is a good beer. I give this one a B-. It needs just a pinch more sweetness. But I would definitely go for this again and so should you. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Abby St. Sixtus Westvleteren 12

I bought this Quadrupel ale, Westvleteren 12 at the Abby St. Sixtus gift shop in the Abby restaurant. I was on a Belgian Beer Me tour in Westvleteren, Belgium. I have previously reviewed the Dubbel and Blonde beer from them as well. This beer is 10.2% ABV. This quad pours a rich dark brown with a two-finger creamy beige head. The head is prolonged to dissipate. The aroma is dark, rich, and sweet. It has a dark candy aroma. The flavor is rich, dark, sweet (licorice), smooth, strong, and light-boozy. This has a cream and medium feeling in the mouth. The smooth finish of this beer is rich and sweet. There is a little cocoa note. The aftertaste is lightly sweet but smooth with a faint bitterness. This is an excellent quadrupel ale, that is an A+. It has everything you’d expect in a quad in a very delicious manner. I would not pass on this beer if you ever come across it or any Westvleteren beers. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer Co. A Disease of Virtuous People West-Coast India Pale Ale (Dream Candy Edition)

Burial Beer Co. is one of my favorite, if not my favorite breweries. This is Burial Beer Co. A Disease of Virtuous People West-Coast India Pale Ale (Dream Candy Edition). This IPA is Whirlpooled with Cryo. Double dry-hopped with Simcoe, Riwaka, and Cascade, is 7% ABV. Burial stirs in a little Dream Candy. This means they had a little marijuana while this beer was being made, I’m guessing from what I found on the side of the can and the Burial website. This IPA pours yellow with a two-finger white head. The aroma is piney, tropical, sweet, and clean. The flavor isn’t far from its aroma. This beer tastes bitter, piney, tropical fruits (a little bit of melon), breaded, sweet, and clean. The mouthfeel has a light creamy feel. Then this IPA finishes clean, with a bit of sweet bitterness. The aftertaste is faint tropical fruits with a nice bittering note. The faint tropical flavor fades as the bitter notes linger. This, A Disease of Virtuous People West-Coast India Pale Ale (Dream Candy Edition) is very delicious and gets an A. Don’t miss out on this Burial Beer. It has a wonderful piney bitter and tropical flavor that is refreshing and good. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Sugar Creek Brewing Company Big Hazy O India Pale Ale

This is a newer beer from the fine people at Sugar Creek Brewing Company. Big Hazy O is a Hazy version of the very tasty Big O IPA. This beer is 6.7% and has Blood oranges, Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops. Their Big O doesn’t have Simcoe hops. This is a core Sugar Creek beer. This IPA pours a hazy yellow with a one-and-a-half-finger white head. The aroma is blood orange fruit, bitter, and it’s juicy. The flavor is juicy with blood oranges and has a hoppy bitterness that is a bit hazy on your tongue. This has a litter feel on/in the mouth. The finish is orangey, slightly candy-like with a nice bitterness. The aftertaste is bitter with juicy oranges. This Big Hazy O is somewhat better than its non-hazy counterpart. This Big Hazy O is an A. The fruit flavors really make this beer great. This is one IPA worth having. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Faction Brewing The Penske File

I’m taking a break from reviewing Belgian beer for a while. So now I have The Penske File West Coast Pale Ale from Faction Brewing. This brewery is out in Alameda, California and this pale is 5.8%ABV. I’ve never had any Faction beer(s), so this is a first. This beer is dry-hopped Mosaic and Ekuanot. The make of the beer is a Seinfeld reference. This pale ale pours a yellow color with a two-finger billowing white head. The head slowly dissipates into decent lacing around the glass. The aroma is piney, bitter, dry, and hoppy. The flavor is piney, bitter, dry, hoppy, and light-bodied. The mouthfeel of this beer is light. This beer has a dry finish with some bitter pine notes. The aftertaste is dry bitter pine. The aftertaste does linger until the next sip. This beer is good, but the dry pine flavor doesn’t go together. I give The Penske File a C+. It’s almost a B- but not. I would have this again, I mean I don’t find this beer terrible. I kind of recommend this. But if you pass on it, you’re not missing out. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
