Burial Beer Co. Beyond The Fields We Know

Burial Beer Co. Beyond The Fields We Know Pale Ale, 5.8% (purchased from Pop The Top) is a collaboration between Burial Beer Co. and the band Dead Meadow and is double dry-hopped with Citra, Comet, and a big dose of Columbus Cryo hops. Beyond The Fields We Know Pale Ale pours a bright cloudy yellow color with sediment floaters and a two-finger quickly fade-in white head, with big bitter grapefruit and hoppy aromas that is a nice and juicy on the nose. The taste is quite bold with a juicy bitter grapefruit orange with the growth of bitterness on the back of the tongue/mouth with a bitter citrus finish and a dank bitter aftertaste with a fuller mouthfeel. This is a wild pale ale that is nearly an IPA and Burial Beer Co. Beyond The Fields We Know Pale Ale is a B- beer. It has a good wallop of hoppy bitter citrus flavor that is good but I not for more than two pints. If you like hoppy bitter citrus IPA like Pale Ales than Burial Beer Co. Beyond The Fields We Know Pale Ale is one you should try. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Hopfly Brewing Co. One More Bite (OMB) Fruited Sour

I purchased Hopfly Brewing Co. One More Bite (OMB) Fruited Sour, 6.3% ABV from Pop The Top because of the label mostly and a little because of the contents. One More Bite is brewed in Rocky Mount, North Carolina with Strawberry, Vanilla, and Lactose. Judging this beer by its label I think they are going for a strawberry shortcake here. One More Bite pours light orange color with a faint red tint to it and with a two-finger fizzy head that fades into a light right with minimal lacing throughout. The aroma is nice with a strawberry sweetness, adding sweet aromas from the vanilla, OMB has more of a Fruity Pebbles aroma to it. There is a nice sweet strawberry flavor to it upfront with a little light tartness, the vanilla and the lactose cut the tart fruity flavors. The fruity sweet finish is good with a nice Fruity Pebbles cereal aftertaste is awesome all with a lighter mouthfeel. Hopfly Brewing Co. One More Bite (OMB) Fruited Sour is one good fruited sour beer, well deserving of an A+. It’s not really a strawberry shortcake, more of a fruity sugary cereal which is great and something very interesting to try. I recommend trying Hopfly Brewing Co. One More Bite (OMB) Fruited Sour Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

D 9 Brewing Company Swell Rider Tangerine Session Ale

D9 Brewing Company Sewell Rider Tangerine Session Ale, 5.1% ABV picked up from Total Wine and is brewed in Cornelius, North Carolina with Tangerines. Sweet Rider pours an orange color with a two-finger quickly fading white head with sweet tangerine aromas that have a slight yet faint tart note. The flavor is pretty much what you see on the label, big tangerine sweet flavor with a very faint tartness and finishes sweet with tangerine and a slight tart tangerine aftertaste with a light mouthfeel. D9 Brewing Company Sewell Rider Tangerine Session Ale is basically a tangerine fruit bomb, all up in your mouth attacking your taste buds. If you love tangerine then Swell Rider is your kind of beer, so go for it. I don’t love tangerines, but I find that to be good. This beer is a B-, after a while, the tangerine flavor is basically too much, but it’s good for two pints in my opinion and yeah could see myself going back to this especially on a hot day. It is a really refreshing beer. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly

Lenny Boy Brewing Co. Tangerine Dreamz Witbier

Lenny Boy Brewing Co. Tangerine Dreamz Witbier, 5.2% ABV purchased from Total Wine is brewed with Tangerines, Lacotose (sugar), Chamomile, & Coriander. Tangerine Dreamz pours yellow with a tow finger tin white head with a sweet tangerine citrus aroma with a floral note. Flavor/taste is similar to Tangerine Dreamz aroma with a tangerine sweet citrus with floral notes that are slightly bitter kind of like a perfume with a citrus floral finish that is bittersweet with an much similar perfume aftertaste with a l,I got mouthfeel. This beer has too much floral flavors going along side the tangerine here for not so great overall flavor that get a D+. The tangerine notes do help it a little bit but not enough. The floral perfume flavor holds Lenny Boy Brewing Co. Tangerine Dreamz Witbier down. I don’t think you should try this beer. I won’t! Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Wilmington Brewing Company Tropical Lightning India Pale Ale

Wilmington Brewing Company Tropical Lightning India Pale Ale, 7.0% ABV is a west coast style IPA brewed in Wilmington, North Carolina with Pilsner, White Wheat, and Carapils malts also with Warrior, Simcoe, Citra and Amarillo hops. Tropical Lightning pours a deep shade of yellow with a two finger white head that has slow pace with a tropical aroma hitting your nose with a fruity citrus scent that is a bit tropical and a bitterness wafting into you nose . The taste is tropical fruity as well as a bit of citrus bitterness and a nice inflow of hoppy notes with a nice tropical bitter finish and a citrus tropical aftertaste with a medium mouthfeel. Wilmington Brewing Company Tropical Lightning India Pale Ale is a refreshing change from all the hazy New England IPAs that have gained so much popularity. I was drinking this and thinking how I missed a nice west coast style IPA. Tropical Lightning really nails the west coast style IPA and gets an A. Wilmington Brewing Company Tropical Lightning India Pale Ale is a beer for when you feel like an IPA but nothing sweet. I really think that its worth trying and I will see this again real soon. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Burial Beer Co. & Heater Allen Handcrafted Lager Beer A Damn Fine Heavy Lager

Burial Beer Co & Heather Allen Handcrafted Lager Beer, A Damn Fine Heavy Lager Beer, 5% ABV is a collaboration I picked up a couple of weeks ago from Pop The Top. Heavy pours nice golden color with a thick three-finger head of snow giving off a biscuity aroma that has a slight yet faint fruit notes with a clean malted aroma as well that then gives you a biscuity bread crust taste with a faint malted note that come and goes on the middle of the tongue with a slight sweetness throughout that finish slightly sweet with a bread malt flavor that spills into the aftertaste that has a little sweetness of nice biscuit malts with a medium mouthfeel. Burial Beer Co & Heather Allen Handcrafted Lager Beer, A Damn Fine Heavy Lager Beer is good and refreshing with an A-. Towards the end of the pint it showing that this beers flavor starts becoming a bit much, slightly though. I could only have about four or five Heavy’s before I start to lose interest in this Lager beer, not that I had that many nor should you. I just had two, and it was good otherwise. Good balance of flavors without being overwhelming in any respects and yes I would go back for Burial Beer Co & Heather Allen Handcrafted Lager Beer, A Damn Fine Heavy Lager Beer and so should you! Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Throwback Thursday: NoDa Brewing Company CAVU Blonde Ale

Originally posted September 7th, 2014

I’ve seen more and more beer in cans recently and that isn’t a bad thing. In the past canned beer wasn’t thought of as good as the bottled beer. People thought the materials of aluminum cans would make the beer taste funny. Now can technology has gone many times better. But canned beer can go places that bottled beer cannot. You can take can’s of beer to the beach, put them in a backpack, or in the cooler without worry, and aluminum cans don’t break when dropped. NoDa Brewing Company here in Charlotte, North Carolina makes beer in cans and here is one of their newer beers CAVU (Ceiling and visibility unlimited), 4.6% ABV, and is in a rather cool looking sixteen ounce can. CAVU pours a clear golden color with a one-finger fizzy wheat head that dissipates quickly but leaves behind minimal lacing. I found lots of light streaming through the glass with healthy amounts of carbonation. The aroma is a bit fruity with a bit of grapefruit and some oranges. There is a slight whiff of pine in the aroma as well. NoDa CAVU has a crisp taste of fruity hops, this is due to the use of west coast hops, I found there to be grapefruit and orange with hints of a piney grassy taste on the back of the mouth. I also found a buttery cracker flavor in the middle of the mouth and towards the back. CAVU has a medium to light mouthfeel with a nice hop character. This beer finishes nicely with a crisp hoppy bit and has a fruity hop aftertaste. NoDa Brewing Company CAVU gets an A, this is a good beer that doesn’t overpower your taste buds and is easy to drink as well as refreshing, and has a very cool looking can too. I enjoyed this one very much and I do highly recommend that you go and try NoDa Brewing Company CAVU for yourself. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!
