Golden Road Brewing Mango Cart Mango Wheat Ale

Golden Road Brewing Mango Cart Mango Wheat Ale, 4.0% ABV first in a series inspired by Los Angeles fruit cart vendors, brewed with 2-row, wheat malts, and Bravo hops. Mango Cart pours a bight yellow with a one finger fizzy white head that quickly fades away with aromas of sweet ripe tropical mango. The flavor is filled with fresh ripe mango sweetness with some light tartness, and a light to medium mouthfeel that has a nice tropical mango into the aftertaste with a hint of a light wheat note. This is very easy to drink with loads of bold mango sweet flavors, I give Golden Road Brewing Mango Cart Mango Wheat Ale an A+. It is a solid beer, but I didn’t really get much wheat ale qualities in mango cart which can be good becuase wheat beer tend to be heavier Mango Cart was not that heavy which along with it’s non overbmang flavor makes it a good sessionable beer, yes it crushable (easy to drink). So I recommend Golden Road Brewing Mango Cart Mango Wheat Ale its really tasty. Please stay safe and enjoy responsible! Cheers!

Throwback Thursday: Samuel Smith’s India Pale Ale

One of my favorite breweries in the world is Samuel Smith Brewery in (Tadcaster) N. Yorks, England. I have pretty much had all of they’re beer in the breweries lineup, and they are all great beers. But I found one from Samuel Smith’s that I’ve not had yet, India Ale (IPA). Like all Samuel Smith beers, this is Brewed with hard well water and fermented in ‘stone Yorkshire squares. Samuel Smith’s India Ale 5.0% ABV and an IBU of 46,  which pours a crisp coppery orange color with a big four finger white bubbly, rocky head that sticks around for quite a while before fading away slightly, leaving behind great strings of lacing around the glass. There is plenty of light coming through the glass with nice carbonation bubbles racing towards the white foamy head. The aroma in India Ale is lightly grassy with a slight malted scent and touches of some light tropical fruit. The taste is very low on hoppy flavor but there is a slight hop flavor present to let you know you are having an IPA. There is a nice small tropical fruit note here with a nice malt backbone to go right along with the faint grassy notes. The taste is much smoother than some American IPAs. The mouthfeel is light to almost medium. Samuel Smith’s India Ale finishes nice but dry and has a nice faintly grassy fruity aftertaste. Samuel Smith’s didn’t disappoint me with this India Ale at all, so Samuel Smith’s India Ale gets an A+. A solid smooth drinking English IPA, well balanced. Samuel Smith’s India Ale isn’t overwhelming in the hops department. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to try their first IPA or to anyone who likes beer. So please go out and try Samuel Smith’s India Ale and see what you think of it. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Throwback Thursday: Fish Brewing Company FishTale Ales Beyond The Pale Pale Ale

Originally posted Monday, July 4th.

The other day I was in a Borders Books and bought a few magazines and one of them was volume one of the 2015 World Beer Awards. This magazine has all the winners in every category and their respected countries, great magazine. But this is not a review of that magazine, no, it’s a review of the worlds best beer 2015, Fish Brewing Company FishTale Ales Beyond The Pale, Pale Ale, 5.0% ABV. This is from Olympia Washington. So I had to try it. Beyond The Pale pours a deep orange color with t foamy two and a half finger white head that dissipates at a nice pace while leaving behind some average lacing. The beer is not to clear so some light is coming through. The aroma is a bit earthy and citrusy with grapefruit and faint hints of orange.  Now the taste is nice with grapefruit bitterness and a few hoppy earth notes and towards the middle and back of the tongue, it is slightly malty. The bitterness becomes stronger as the beer warms a bit but nothing too bitter or overwhelming. The mouthfeel is medium with a nice bitter finish and a good malt bitter aftertaste with a slight lingering of bitter citrus fruit. I see this beer trying to be a more than a pale ale without stepping into IPA territory which some pale ales tend to do and for me, that is not what they should do. IPA’s should be IPA’s; Pale ales should be Pale Ales. Beyond The Pale Takes the pale ale style and adds some IPA qualities to it without it tasting like or being an IPA. With the huge popularity of IPA, I see why some brewers what to make a pale ale as close to an IPA. That’s cool, just don’t make an IPA with bigger malted flavors and say here is our pale ale. Fish Brewing FishTale Ales Beyond The Pale is an A. I enjoyed it and would have it again. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Taste is tropical and sweet with orange and bitter grapefruit citrus with a creaminess, medium thick mouthfeel that finish bitter and hoppy with nice lighter tropical notes and has a bittersweet orange, grapefruit tropical aftertaste. Burial Beer & Modern Times Beer Celestial Altar isn’t bad getting a high B+. I found the balance of tropical sweet fruits and bitter citrus fruits to be tasty delicious. Burial Beer & Modern Times Beer Celestial Altar is a beer that I would recommend if you are into hazy IPA like this. I would go fr this again but the mouth feel was a little thicker than I would have like for this style of IPA, but it was good otherwise Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Mikkeller Brewing San Diego Limited Series Moons of Saturan

Mikkeller Brewing San Diego Limited Series Moons of Saturn, 7 % ABV is a Berliner Weisse style sour brewed with orange peel, lime peel, Key lime, passion fruit, and crystallize ginger. Moons of Saturn is inspired by the refreshing Saturn cocktail, which is a gin based version of a Mia Tai. Moons of Saturn pours a crispy golden color with a quickly fading one and a quarter white head with nice fruity tropical tart citrusy aromas with hints of light ginger. Flavor is somewhat similar to its aroma it has a slight funky flavor of tropical gingery fruits, passion fruit, with a nice tartness and citrusy highlights with a nice amount of sourness hitting all the right taste buds on your tongue with a nice lighter mouthfeel that comes to a nice tart and sour tropical finish and has a nice light ginger aftertaste with a linger of tropical citrusy fruit. Mikkeller Brewing San Diego Limited Series Moons of Saturn is quite tasty getting an A+. Throwback Thursday: Destihl Brewery Wild Sour Series Counter Clockweisse

Originally posted November 20th, 2016.

Here is another Destihl Brewery Wild Sour Series beer, Counter Clockweisse, 3.0% ABV.  Counter Clockweisse is a Berliner-style Weiss Bier. Traditional German-style sour wheat al is used in Counter Clockweisse and is unfiltered and spontaneously fermented. Counter Clockweisse pours a bright yellow color with a fizzy two finger white head that quickly dissolves back into the yellowness of the beer. The aroma is filled with lots of tartness, acidic lemony-tart lactic notes. The aroma has much the same qualities as a true German Berliner Weiss Bier. Taste has some similar qualities to Counter Clockweisse’s aroma; it’s tart upfront with a bit on acidic lemon, sour wheat in the middle with a fainter lemon note towards the back. The mouthfeel is light easy and refreshing. Counter Clockweisse finishes tart yet easy with a tart lemon wheat after taste that slowly fades into the next sip. This is a good beer, B grade but I think that after three maybe four Counter Clockweisse becomes too much, the tartness of it all becomes too much. But that doesn’t make it a terrible beer, no it just something you can have a whole lot of. I would go back to it and do recommend Destihl Brewery Wild Sour Series Counter Clockweisse. It’s good, it’s refreshing, and something you need to try! Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly
