NoDa Brewing Company Jam Session

NoDa Brewing Company Jam Session, 5.1% ABV has been around for a long time here in Charlotte, North Carolina and I a little surprised I have not reviewed this Pale Ale until now. Brewed locally in Charlotte with imported Maris Otter, Caramunich malts, Centennial, Simcoe, and Citra hops. Jam Session pours an orange color with a fluffy two-finger white head. It has a slightly bitter aroma that is a little bit sweet and there is also grapefruit with some hints of orange. Its taste is grapefruit with bitterness, some light sweetness from some light orange. Mouthfeel is lighter than expected. It then finishes with a light hoppy bitter note and has a bitter citrus fruit aftertaste. This is Pale Ale goes down smooth and is refreshing. I give NoDa Brewing Company Jam Session a B-. The flavors on this are mild overall that do hold its grade down a bit, but nothing terrible. None of the flavors really wow you or jump out at you. Yes, I do recommend NoDa Brewing Company Jam Session. I enjoyed it and will enjoy it again. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Devil’s Logic Brewing Bang A Uey NEPA

Brewed in Charlotte, North Carolina Devils Logic Brewing Bang A Uey NEPA, %.5% ABV is a New England Pale Ale. Bang A Uey is Bostonian slang for making a u-turn. The name is fitting for this New England Pale Ale. This Pale Ale pours a slightly cloudy yellow with a sticky two-finger bright white head. The aroma is citrusy with orange, grapefruit, and a bit of mango. The aroma is strong smelling. The flavor is light with some citrus orange and grapefruit, bitterness. There is a light mouthfeel to this and a nice sweetness. Bang a Uey has a soft bitter citrus finish and a citrus aftertaste. Devils Logic Brewing Bang A Uey NEPA is not as it smells it overall a light easy drinking pale ale. I give this one a high C+. Going into this beer from the aroma I was thinking the flavor would be more than it was. What I tasted was not bad just lighter than I was expecting it to be and that held it just above average for me. Yeah, I would have this again and it would be something to try if you haven’t already. I was not a bad beer. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Olde Mecklenburg Brewery Früh Bock

Way back and a long time ago I have reviewed Olde Mecklenburg Brewery Früh Bock, 6.0% ABV. Since then it has gone from a 750ml bottle to a 12oz bottle to now a 16oz can. This is a spring bock brewed with Bavarian hops, water, malt, and yeast, much like the traditional German method of brewing. It is produced locally here in Charlotte, North Carolina. Früh Bock pours a deep golden orange color with a tight one-finger white head. It has a sweet, hoppy slight biscuity malt aroma. The taste is sweet at first with a bit of hop bitterness with a bit of a light biscuit malt note. It is crisp and refreshing and finishes the same with a light hoppy sweet note. This beer has a medium mouthfeel. Früh Bock has slight sweet malt aftertaste. I found Olde Mecklenburg Brewery Früh Bock to be a good spring bock beer, and I give it an A-. Olde Mecklenburg Brewery does not disappoint with its beers, and Früh Bock is no exception. It has a nice spring flavor that is refreshingly tasty. You can spend part of your afternoon with a package of these and I recommend that you do.

Westbrook Brewing Company CHS PILS

Pilsner I think is going to be a new popular trend among craft beer along with other crisp beer styles like a Lager. I guess you could call it a crispy beer trend. Westbrook Brewing Company CHS PILS, 5% ABV is an on-trend beer, says crispy on. the can but with a K and is brewed in Charleston, South Carolina. This Pilsner is brewed with Hallertau Tradition hops, German Lager Yeast, and Pils malt. This Pilsner pours a yellow slightly gold color with a tight/bright white one and a half-finger white head. The aroma is the lightest bit lemony with a biscuit note and a slight hint of a hop note. The flavor is aging, the lights hint of lemon with a few biscuity malts and a bit of a hoppy note. The mouthfeel is light but grainy. CHS PILS finish with a grainy faint hop note and caries it into a crisp aftertaste. This is a good alternative to all those big New England IPAs, barrel-aged and pastry stouts. I could drink several of these with wrecking or overpowering my tastebuds. I think Westbrook Brewing Company CHS PILS is an A. Just a straight-up Pilsner beer for when you what a well-brewed beer-flavored beer. Go get this! Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Appalachian Mountain Brewery Boone Creek Blonde

This Appalachian Mountain Brewery Boone Creek Blonde, 4.9% ABV was brought over by my neighbors for the Super Bowl. This blonde ale is brewed in Boone, North Carolina, and is a Great American Beer Festival award winner. It pours out a golden color into the glass with a one-and-a-half-finger white head that is somewhat quick to fade into itself. The aroma is slightly biscuity with some honey and a light hop aroma. Taste is a little similar to its aroma. There is a honey-sweet note that is followed by a light biscuity note with a light hoppy flavor. It has a smooth flavor as well and finishes smooth and crisp. The aftertaste is a sweet yet slightly hoppy flavor that does not stay, but it does draw you into another refreshing sip. This has all the average aromas and flavor of your typical Blonde ale with just a hint of hoppy. I say that Appalachian Mountain Brewery Boone Creek Blonde is not bad and it’s a C+ beer, above average. There wasn’t any sort of flavors that aren’t your typical Blonde al flavors which is good. I do recommend this Appalachian Mountain Brewery Boone Creek Blonde. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Founders Brewing Barrel Aged Más Agave

I was down in South Carolina where they have an ACTUAL liquor store and I saw Founders Brewing Barrel-Aged Más Agave, 10% ABV. I picked up a four-pack of the lime variant. Más Agave is an imperial lime Gose beer aged in Tequila barrels. This beer pours a deep rich orange with a two-finger fast dissolving white head. It gives off sweet & tart aromas of lime citrus fruit with a strong alcoholic note. Taste is a bit similar to the way its aroma hits. You’ll find a bit of a tart & sweet lime with a boozy tequila barrel and hints of citrus lime. This beer doesn’t taste like it’s 10% but not far off. The mouthfeel is on the higher side of a medium feel. Más Agave finishes with a boozy citrus lime tartness and has a tart alcoholic limey aftertaste. This is much like a margarita but in beer from and only the second time I’ve had a beer like this, the first being Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Trip into the Woods Otra Vez. Which I think is better than Founders Brewing Barrel-Aged Más Agave, which I B. It has a good tart fruity flavor but the barrel brings out the boozy alcohol that doesn’t make you want to have more that one and a half of these. But I do recommend trying Founders Brewing Barrel-Aged Más Agave. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Bières de Chimay Grande Réserve (Blue)

Bière de Chimie Grande Réserve, 9% ABV from Bailuex Belgium is a Trappist Ale, which means that this dark Strong ale is brewed by Belgian monks. This ale pours a deep brown color with dark ruby edges and a three-finger think-off white head that is very slow to dissipate. The aromas are of dark fruit, raisins, there is a sweetness. This beer has a sweet dark fruit flavor with raisins, and with a strong flavor overall. The mouthfeel is full with a bit of stickiness and finishes with a touch of sweetness and some light dark fruit. The fruit flavor does carry into the aftertaste with a bit more pronounced alcoholic note. This ière de Chimie Grande Réserveis always great tasting and it gets an A from me I highly recommend pick up this beer, you will not regret what you did, Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Resident Culture Brewing Company Riding For The Feeling

Brewed locally in Charlotte, North Carolina, Resident Culture Brewing Company Riding For The Feeling, 5% ABV is an Italian style Pilsner hopped with Hallertau, Mittlefruh, German, Saphir, and Hersburker hops. This pilsner pours a yellow color with a three-finger stead white head with nice lacing left behind. Its aroma is light and biscuity with a little sweetness. The flavor of this pilsner is biscuity with some light sweet/crips notes, a very faint lemon-like note. The mouthfeel is light and refreshing. It finishes with a crisp biscuit note and carries a little of the into the aftertaste with a hint of sweetness. I do like a nice pilsner now and again. They can be nice after all those big lactose IPA and pastry stouts, and I think that pilsner could be the next trend in craft beer. Resident Culture Brewing Company Riding For The Feeling is a good Italian Pilsner and I give it a solid B. It has a nice crisp flavor that doesn’t overpower your tastebuds and it’s a welcome addition to the otherwise big heavy flavored beer out there. I recommend Resident Culture Brewing Company Riding For The Feeling. Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Allagash Brewing Co. Fine Acre Organic Golden Ale

Allagash Brewing Co, in Portland Maine is one of the best breweries on the east coast and this is Allagash Brewing Co. Fine Acre Organic Golden Ale, 5.5% ABV. This beer has an all-organic malt bill. The golden ale style originated in Belgium and is quite popular in Belgium, Europe, and the United States. Fine Acre pours a cloudy golden yellow color with a three-finger bright white head that slowly dissipates. The aroma is somewhat sweet with a nice light lemon and banana. Fine Acre has a sweet and dry flavor, yeast notes, banana, very faint lemon, and a bit of malt. The mouthfeel is all most full, and this beer finishes with a light dry sweetness that carries on into the aftertaste. As usual for Allagash Brewing Co. Fine Acre Organic Golden Ale is pretty good, but I still think Duvel Belgian Golden Ale is the best. I give this particular golden ale a B. This is a solid example of the Golden Ale style. It does have a bit of heavier mouthfeel and flavor than some golden ales, and this one is not as high in alcohol as some either. But I enjoy this one and you should too! Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Brewery Huyghe Derlirium Tremens

Imported from Melle Belgium, Brewery Huyghe Delirium Tremens, 8.5% is a golden ale. It is most notable for having a pink Elephant on its packaging. Tremens pour a beautiful golden color with a two-and-a-half finger bright white head and plenty of carbonation. The aroma is sweet with a fruitiness, mostly apple-like, with a very faint bitter note. Taste of Tremens is a nice sweet fruity note with a slightly dry bitterness with a lighter mouthfeel. This beer has a little sharpness that quickly hits in the finishes with a little bitterness and then lingers with effervescent and a dry light/faint apple. This is a great beer that is shy of Duvel but still good. Brewery Huyghe Delirium Tremens is an A, just shy of Duvel, which you should try as well as Tremens. This is an excellent beer with a great flavor profile. Cheers! Please stay safe and enjoy responsibly!
