St. Bernardus Brewery Pater 6

This beer, Pater Six, is an Abby Dubble from St. Bernardus and is another in their mixed six-pack. This beer is 6.7% ABV. This recipe dates back to 1946. This beer pours a chestnut brown with a two-finger light beige head. The aroma is lightly nutty, sweet, malty, and overall light. The flavor is sweet and dark, malty, and smooth. Then this beer finishes with a light malt flavor and some sweetness. The light sweetness carries over into the aftertaste with some malt characteristics. This beer has a light overall flavor, and that gives it an A. I think Chimay dubble is slightly better than this. I would still recommend this St. Bernardus Pater 6. It would go well with pork dishes and zesty cheeses. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

St. Bernardus Brewery Extra 4

This St. Bernardus Extra 4 is a Enkel/Patersbier. This is a single or lightest beer from St. Bernardus. I saw this also to be known as a Belgian Pale Ale. This beer is 4.8% ABV. I bought this in Florida over the weekend as a mixed S. Bernardus six-pack. This package has six different individual beers that the brewery makes. This particular beer pours a yellow color with a one-and-a-half-finger bright white head. The aroma is citrus fruit, with cloves, spices, and light pepper. The flavor is citrus fruits, spices (coriander and pepper), dry, light cloves, and also light on the hops. This one has a medium feel on the mouth. Then this beer finishes with a dry, yeasty fruity, hop flavor that lingers. It lingers more with the dry yeast notes. Then you’ll come to a dry aftertaste with some hop notes. This is an A+ beer from one of the best breweries in the world. I highly recommend Extra 4 from St. Bernardus. This is a beer you don’t want to miss. It is really deliciously refreshing. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Birdsong Brewing Co. Jalapeño Pale Ale

I have had Jalapeño Pale Ale from Birdsong Brewing Co. many times. I haven’t reviewed this beer. I really can’t believe that. This pale ale is brewed with jalapeños that have most of the seed removed. The seed of the jalapeño is where the capsaicin or the heat is. The idea behind removing the jalapeño seed is to give very little to no heat and more of a vegetal flavor. This pale ale pours a deep yellow with a two-finger white head. The aroma is vegetal, bitter, and jalapeño spice. The flavor is a jalapeño vegetal spice/heat, bitterness, and a faint hop flavor. The feeling is light in the mouth. Then comes a lightly spicy jalapeño finish that has minimal bitterness. The aftertaste is vegetal with light bittering notes. Birdsong Jalapeño Pale Ale is a unique beer I love and give an A+. I could have a few pints of this with spicy nachos or chicken wings. I highly recommend this beer! Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company Cereal For Dinner

I first reviewed this beer, Cereal For Dinner, back in 2020 at the end of May. I thought I would review this beer again because I keep seeing this everywhere. This beer is by Edmunds Oast Brewing Co. in Charleston, South Carolina. This beer comes in at 5.5% ABV and has almonds, vanilla, Lactose, and coconut. This ale pours yellow with a two-finger steady head. The aroma is vanilla-sweet and nutty. The flavor is also vanilla, coconut, and smooth. The flavor of this beer is nutty but slightly nuttier than its aroma. This beer feels light on the mouth. Then you come to a finish of sweet vanilla nuttiness with some fake or artificial coconut. The aftertaste is sweet and nothing more. This beer is not overly sweet overall. That’s good because blonde beer that is sweet shouldn’t be. This ale has the right amount of sweetness with a bit of a nutty flavor. I give Cereal For Dinner a B+. This beer has plain vanilla and not a more exotic type of vanilla. If it did, I would probably rate this higher. I recommend that you drink this beer. It is good. This beer is good enough to have a few. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Town Brewing Co. & Rhino Market & Deli Very Rhino IPA

A Very Rhino IPA is a collaboration between The Rhino Marke & Deli and the Town Brewing Company. This IPA, which is 6.2% ABV, was purchased at the South Park Charlotte location of the Rhino Market. This IPA pours a bright yellow color with a two-and-a-half-finger white head. The aroma is tropical fruit, hoppy, and lightly bitter. The flavor is of juicy tropical fruit, citrus fruits, and bitterness. This beer has a barely medium feeling in the mouth. This IPA has a nice bittering fruit finish. This IPA has a semi-sweet aftertaste. The aftertaste is juicy, hoppy fruit flavors. This is a good IPA, B, in my opinion. It has a balanced flavors of hoppy with tropical flavors. I would recommend this Very Rhino IPA. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

This Sunny Monkey is an A. I recommend this Sunny Monkey beer. It is a easy drinker and refreshing. It is not overly tart or sour. It has the right amount. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Fonta Flora Brewing X Half Acre Beer Co. Wolf Spit Baltic-style Porter

Wolf Spit is this collaborative beer from Fonta Flora in Nebo, North Carolina, and Half Acre in Chicago, Illinois. Wolf Spit is a Baltic-style Porter made with Shagbark Hickory wood. This Porter is 8.5% ABV. This Shagbark wood is commonly found in the eastern United States. This beer pours a black color with a dark two-finger beige/brown head. The head is slow to fade. The aroma is malty, earthy, bitter, and smoky. The flavor is again earth, malty, bittersweet, and smoky on the back of the tongue/mouth. This beer is full feeling in the mouth. The finish is smoky and slightly bitter with faint roasted notes. The aftertaste is less smoky. This beer is not like a campfire smoke. Then you get some baking chocolate flavor to the aftertaste. This beer is not terrible. This beer is a B-. I found the smoky and earthy flavors to clash a bit. This beer is good. I might go back to Wolf Spit. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer Co. Slough Water American Porter with Coffee

I have another Burial Beer Co. Beer. This one is Slough Water coming in at 5.9% ABV. This is an American Porter with coffee. This beer has barley, oats, triticale (a hybrid of wheat and rye), and roasted malts. This porter is conditioned on Methodical Coffee’s Guatemalan Lxlam, Costa Rican La Pastora beans. This dark beer pours a black color with a two-finger beige head. The aroma is bitter, sweet, coffee, roasted, and malty. The beer’s flavor is close to its own aroma. It’s bittersweet, malted, roasted coffee with a bit of molasses. This beer has a full feeling in your mouth. This porter has a bitter coffee-roasted finish. That leads to a faint bittersweet aftertaste. This Burial Beer Co. Slough Water is an A. It isn’t overpowering or thick. It has a good balance of tasty flavors. If you like dark beers with coffee then this is your beer. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer Co. Skillet Donut Stout

Burial Beer Co., Skillet Donut Stout makes this beer in Asheville, North Carolina. This beer is 8% ABV. This is an oatmeal Stout with lactose, coffee, nine barley malts, a scoop of oats, molasses, and milk sugars. The coffee comes from Guatemala, Ethiopia, and Columbia. This stout pours a deep, black, thick, with a two-finger creamy beige head. The aroma is bittersweet, malty, roasted, and deep. The flavor is roasted coffee, and bittersweet malt, with a syrup flavor. There is a full feeling in the mouth. Then you get a bitterness with a rounded sweetness and coffee for a finish. The aftertaste is like coffee with cream that lingers just a little. This beer may sound like a big beer, but it drinks like it isn’t. This beer is good, I give this Skillet Donut Stout an A+. You should be drinking this beer. It would go well with a nice chocolate dessert, waffles, French toast, or pancakes. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company Special Dark Czech-Style Dark Lager

!This beer from Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company in Charleston, South Carolina, is Special Dark. Special Dark is a 5.5% Czech-Style Dark Lager. This beer is not a year-round beer. This dark beer pours almost deep black with a two-finger beige head. The aroma is beady, malted with light sweetness and a coffee scent. The flavor is malty, sweet, and bready, with bitterness on the back of the mouth. The flavor is light overall. This beer has a somewhat medium feel in the mouth. This beer has a light bittersweet malt finish. Then you find a bittersweet coffee aftertaste that doesn’t linger. This is okay, but I found it to have lighter flavors that aren’t bad on their own but not together. All the flavors together give this beer a C+. I would like this beer to have more hardier flavors. So that together would make the whole beer a little better. I wouldn’t rush right out for this beer. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
