Foothills Brewing Hazyum IPA

Hazyum IPA, 6.9% ABV is a hazy version of Foothills Brewing’s (in Winston-Salem, North Carolina) Hoppyum IPA. Foothills Brewing uses locally sourced wheat and malts. This IPA pours a cloudy darker lemon yellow color with a two-and-a-half finger white head. The head is somewhat quick to go. The aroma is tropical, orangey, and bitter. The flavor is also tropical and orangey with grapefruit, melon, and pineapple. It is also bitter towards the back of the tongue with a bitter and tart flavor. The mouthfeel is light but barely. Then this IPA finishes with a tropical fruit flavor. The aftertaste is of bitter tropical fruits. This IPA is a nice hazy version of Hoppyum, a tropical forward Hoppyum. I like Hazyum, and would Gove this a B+. I still think that Hoppyum is just a bit better. I would still recommend Hazyum IPA. Please be kind, be safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Legion Brewing Pineapple Juicy Jay India pale ale

Pineapple Juicy Jay IPA, 6.5% ABV, is Legion Brewing’s pineapple version of their Juicy Jay IPA. This IPA uses pineapple puree. This beer is made locally in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have had the non-pineapple version of Juicy Jay many times, but never this version. This IPA pours a pineapple yellow color that is hard to see through. It has a two and a half finger white, steady head. The aroma is juicy and tropical, with some bittersweetness. The flavor is also fruity with bittersweetness and touches of tartness. The mouthfeel is slightly medium. Then this pineapple IPA finishes with a nice bitter pineapple flavor. Then the aftertaste of tropical fruit comes. This beer is a good variation of Juicy Jay IPA. I give it an A. I highly recommend it. It’s bright and tropical without being overly bitter. There is just enough pineapple flavor to give it that tropical feel. This beer is a good summer IPA. Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Olde Mecklenburg Brewery Früh Bock Spring Bock

I have had Früh Bock, 6% ABV from Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, many times before, and I might have reviewed it years ago. I’m reviewing this local Charlotte, North Carolina beer again , because the more beer I have and review, the more my plate grows and changes. This spring beer pours a deep gold/copper color with a two-finger steady white head. The aroma is ready, fruity, and sweet. The flavor is a sweet and fruity with a very light malt flavor. The mouthfeel is medium. Then it comes to a nice bitter-sweet fruity finish. The aftertaste is less fruity than the initial taste. There are some light malted flavor. Every time I have Früh Bock, the more I find it delicious. I give it an A+ and highly recommend it. It’s a good beer for springtime. It has a very well-made flavor profile and taste. I can’t fault it on anything. There is nothing negative from me about this beer. Just go and find it and try it! Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

New Belgium Brewing Company Fat Tire Amber Ale

Fat Tire from New Belgium Brewing Company is a classic flagship brew, that comes in at 5.2% ABV. New Belgium dates way back to 1991. I’ve had Fat Tire so many times before. This Ale pours a copper/amber color with a one and a half finger sticky white head. The aroma is malty biscuit and has a light hoppy sweetness. The flavor is lightly sweet with hoppy flavors. There is the same malted biscuit from its smell. The mouthfeel is light. Then this beer finishes clean with a hint of hoppy flavor. The aftertaste is lightly hoppy and biscuity. This beer is drinkable, and I mean that you can have a six-pack of these Fat Tires, and the flavor will not be too much on your taste buds. I would recommend this. It is a good flagship brew from New Belgium Brewing Co, which is in both Fort Collins, Colorado, and Asheville, North Carolina. I give it a B+. It is a good Amber Ale, but I have had some that blow me away, but I’ve had so many. A great example of one is Olde Mecklenburg Brewery Copper. But this is good too! Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Pipeworks Brewing Co. Ninja vs Unicorn Double Pale Ale

I found Ninja vs Unicorn Double Pale Ale at a nearby Harris Teeter supermarket. This beer from Chicago, Illinois, is 8% ABV. Pipeworks Brewing Co. was founded in 2012. I have not seen much of this or any Pipeworks beers here in Charlotte or in North Carolina. This beer pours a yellow color with a slight haze and has a three-finger thick white head. The aroma is juicy, fruity, tropical, and hoppy. The flavor is hoppy, juicy, fruity, tropical mango, and pineapple. It has a slight sweetness to it. The mouthfeel is medium. Then this beer (which is more like an IPA than a Pale Ale) finishes with a bitter tropical hop flavor. The aftertaste is hoppy and bitter with light fruit. I found this Ninja vid Unicorn Double Pale Ale from Pipeworks Brewing Co. to be good, A grade. It has fruity flavors with the right amount of bettering hops. It does not drink like an 8% beer either. I like that too. I highly recommend this beer, especially if you like IPAs. Please be kind, stay safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Thomas Creek Brewery Islander Ginger Beer

This Ginger beer, Islander Ginger Beer. is originally from the Caribbean and made by the Harriots. But it is made in Greenville, South Carolina’s Thomas Creek Brewery. This ginger beer uses filtered water, cane sugar, ginger, citrus, and Caribbean spices. This beer is only 5.0% ABV. This ginger beer pours a yellow color with no head. The aroma is sweet and gingery, with hints of citrus and spices. This beer has a ginger flavor, sweet notes, citrusy flavors, and spice. The mouthfeel is on the medium side. Then this beer finishes with a ginger-spiced flavor. The aftertaste is ginger and citrusy with a bit of spice. This bere here isn’t bad. I found the Caribbean spices a little too strong. The spices overwhelmed the ginger a little. I give Islander Ginger Beer a C+. It is easier to drink than some beers, and yes, it is mildly refreshing. I don’t think this is something I would usually go for on its own. I think it would be great in a cocktail. Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Foothills Brewing Good Ship Wit

Good Ship Wit, 5.1% ABV from Foothills Brewing in Winston Salem, North Carolina. This Wit beer has ginger, lime, orange, turmeric, and coriander. This beer is a seasonal beer from March to July. Good Ship Wit pours a yellow color that doesn’t allow any light to get through. It has one finger quickly fizzy white head. The aroma is of huge ginger, lime, and orange, and it has a spiced note. The flavor has lots of ginger upfront with spices, lite orange/lime, and some citrus peels. The mouthfeel is medium. This Wit beer finishes with lime and ginger, which carries over to the aftertaste. Then the aftertaste has a linger of spiced ginger/lime flavor. This beer is a tasty Wtt beer. I think Foothills Brewing Good Ship Wit is a B+. There is a little too much ginger here. I like ginger a lot. But after three, the ginger is too much. The lime does help balance the ginger some, as do the spices. Good Ship Wit is refreshing to drink. I would recommend it for sure You should try it! Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Highland Brewing Lower Falls IPA

This beer from Asheville, North Carolina’s Highland Brewing is a lower-calorie beer. Lower Falls IPA is 3.9% ABV and brewed with Centennial, Amarillo, and Citra hops. This beer also has 2-Row, unmalted wheat, malted wheat, and flaked oats. This IPA pours a light cloudy yellow color with a think bright white one-finger head. The head is steadily fading, then it quickly dissolves. The aroma is big and bright, with citrus orange and some grapefruit. The flavor is citrusy with lemony, light grapefruit, and orange. It is lightly hoppy and bitter. The mouthfeel is refreshing. Then it has a nice bitter fruit finish. The aftertaste has citrusy hop notes. This beer is a great sessional beer that is crushable. You can have several of these without the flavor or the bitterness overpowering your tastebuds. I highly recommend Highland Brewing Lower Falls IPA. It will not blow you away with the flavor, nor will it underwhelm you. It is a solid session IPA. Please be kind, be safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Obolon Brewery Magnat Lager

This Lager is another beer from Kyiv, Ukraine, from Obolon Brewery. This beer is Magnat Lager, 5.2% ABV. I purchased it from Total Wine, hoping that some of the profits from the sale would go back to help Ukraine. This beer is a typical Euro pale lager. It is golden with a thin one-finger head. The aroma is ready, crisp, lightly sweet, and malted. The taste is clean and crisp with light malt flavors and light sweet notes. Not a lot going on flavor-wise here. The mouthfeel is light. Its finishes with a crispness with awful bread. The aftertaste is not there. It has that metallic note. This beer is not good, but it is barely better than some domestic macro beer here. It’s not as good as Obolon Lager. I give Magnet Lager a D. It was boring and lacked flavor. If you are curious about it, then go ahead and try it. But I wouldn’t have this again. Please be kind, stay safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

The aroma is breaded, citrusy, light pice, biscuity, and light malt The flavor is similar to its aroma. There is bread, biscuit, and some light sweet notes. The mouthfeel is light. Then it finishes with a light spice and ready notes that carry over to the aftertaste with a bit of bitterness. This is a good Helles beer. It’s an A. It has a great refreshing flavor. I would have this again and again, and so should you. Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
