Lenny Boy Brewing Co. Uno Mas Mexican Style Lager

Lenny Boy Brewing Co. Uno Mas Mexican Style Lager, 5% ABV was brewed as a Mexican Amber Ale. But I messaged the Lenny Boy and they told me they made it more of a golden color to make it more approachable. This Mexican style lager brewed in Charlotte, NC pours a gold color with a two-finger white head that quickly fades down to one finger then fades at a steady pace. The aroma is sweet corn-like with a light biscuity note. The flavor is sweet corn biscuit notes that make this crisp beer go down so easy. The mouthfeel is light. This lager finishes clean & crisp with a nice sweet biscuit flavor. The sweetness does linger in the aftertaste. Changing this beer from amber was a good choice. I enjoyed Lenny Boy Brewing Co. Uno Mas Mexican Style Lager and it gets an A. This is a good summer’s day beer that you could have a few off. The flavor and ABV aren’t overwhelming. You should try Lenny Boy Brewing Co. Uno Mas Mexican Style Lager, I highly recommend that you do! Please be kind, stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Legion Brewing Winnie the Brew Honey Double India Pale Ale

Here is another Legion Brewing beer, Winnie the Brew Honey Double India Pale Ale, 10.2% with 95% IBU (International Bittering Units) a high IBU for an IPA. This IPA is brewed in Charlotte, North Carolina with honey. It pours a deep copper color with an off-white four-finger head that is slow to fade. The aroma is piney and bitter with a very faint sweet honey note. It’s a strong bitterness coming off this IPA. The Flavor is very bitter with piney notes and a little honey sweetness, but the honey also adds to the big bitterness and makes this a very hoppy bitter IPA. It does have a light honey flavor that follows the bitter/hoppy flavor. The mouthfeel is full and sticky. This Legion IPA finishes with a bigger bitterness and has a piney bitter honey aftertaste that comes and goes rather quickly living only bitterness behind before your next sip. Legion Brewing Winnie the Brew Honey Double India Pale Ale is a big bitter monster of an IPA but the flavor is right on with the bitter and the honey, they play well with one another. I give it a C+ it is good but the huge bitterness holds it slightly above average in my opinion. Not a beer you would have more than a pint of. It is better than some honey-flavored IPAs I’ve had but I’m not the biggest fan of honey IPAs but I don’t dislike them. Please be kind, be safe and please enjoy responsibly

Legion Brewing New Chapter East Coast India Pale Ale

Brewed in Charlotte North Carolina Legion Brewing Next chapter East Coast India Pale Ale, 6.8% ABV and 58 IBU (International Bittering Units) is a beer that uses a portion of the beer proceeds to go towards a Charlotte charity organization. This IPA pours a slightly cloudy yellow color with a one and a quarter white head that fades somewhat quickly. The aroma is bitter/hoppy with piney aromas coming off it. The flavor is piney, bitter/hoppy with dryness to it that is faintly reminiscent of an odd lemon because there is no citrus flavor anywhere else. The mouthfeel is on the lighter dryer side. This Legion IPA finishes with a dry hoppy piney bitterness that trails off into nothing. The aftertaste is piney with a nice amount of dry bitterness that goes rather quickly. This beer has good quaffable flavor but I wouldn’t say it’s sessionable, it does have a 6.8% ABV. I think it’s a C+ beer. Just right about average. Would I have this again? Well, it wouldn’t be my first choice, maybe my second choice. Remember to please be kind, please be safe, and please enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer & Halfway Crooks Spectacle of Martyrdom

Burial Beer & Halfway Crooks Spectacle of Martyrdom, 3.4% ABV is a collaboration between Burial Beer in Asheville, North Carolina & Halfway Crooks in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a Mild Ale, a Dark Mild Ale. Mild ale is a type of ale, with a malty flavor. Mild ale was original was young, fresh, or unnamed. It is usually low in ABV around 3% or 4% ABV and is mostly a darker beer. The spectacle of Martyrdom pours a black color with a three-finger beige steady creamy head, The aroma is caramel, cocoa, roasted coffee notes with a slight bitterness. The flavor is similar to its aroma, with cocoa, coffee roast, caramel creaminess with a little bitterness. It has a light body and light mouthfeel. It does go down easy. It finishes with a bit of sweet roasted flavor and has a nice aftertaste of sweet cocoa roasted coffee with a very tiny bitter note. This is a different beer than I am used to seeing out there. I hardly ever see a Mild Ale in this part of the world. They are much more common in England, United Kingdom. Well, it’s good, dark and light-bodied. I give Burial Beer & Halfway Crooks Spectacle of Martyrdom an A. It is very tasted without being a huge beer like some darker beer, no was it filling. I enjoy a dark beer that is easier to drink. I highly recommended trying Burial Beer & Halfway Crooks Spectacle of Martyrdom. Please be kind, stay safe and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company Basket of Flowers

Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company Basket of Flowers, 5% ABV is Belgian style wheat brewed in Charleston, South Carolina with oranges and rosebuds. This beer sounded like it would be interesting, so I picked up a four-pack. This beer pours a bright yellow cloudy color with a one and a quarter white head that fades steadily. The nose is floral with orange sweetness There is a bitter tart note in there as well that gives off slight pale ale vibes. The flavor is sweet with some tart orange floral notes with a bit of wheat. Yes, I did get a bit of bitterness, but not as pronounced as it is on the nose. This Edmund’s Oast beer finish with a hit of a hoppy note but sweet. The aftertaste is orange and floral with a final bitter tart note. This is not as exciting as I thought it was going to be. It was trying to go somewhere with the flavor but got lost on the way. I give Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company Basket of Flowers a low C-. The bit of bitterness I found was a surprise but not in a good way and it clashing a bit with the floral notes kind of hold it back. I wouldn’t recommend Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company Basket of Flowers. But I do find Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company to brew good beers not this one though. Please be kind, stay safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Birdsong Brewing Co. Good As Helles

Birdsong Brewing Co. Good As Helles Lager, 5.4% ABV is a local Charlotte, North Carolina brewed tropical Helles Lager. It is brewed with Strata Hops. This is a battering hop that brings tropical fruity flavors to a beer. This Helles Lager pours a golden color that is clean and has a one and half finger white head. The head has good retention and is slow to dissipate. The aroma is fruity with pineapple, mango, and some passionfruit. There is bitterness on the nose as well. The flavor is tropical with pineapple and mango with low bitter notes. The mouthfeel is light and this Helles finishes with a bit of bittersweet tropical crisp notes. The aftertaste is crisp with some fruitiness. Birdsong Brewing Co. Good As Helles Lager is an interesting Helles Lager that does deliver a tropical flavor to your taste buds. I give it a B+. It’s not an explosion of tropical fruit flavors, but they are a bit subtle. It goes down easy with a crisp flavor. I do recommend trying Birdsong Brewing Co. Good As Helles Lager. Please be kind, stay safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Wilmington Brewing Company Tropical Frightening

I am a sucker for blood orange. So when I saw Wilmington Brewing Company Tropical Frightening, 10% ABV, I had to get it. This is an imperial IPA with blood orange and raspberries. This big IPA pours a reddish blood orange color with a two-finger white head with great retention. It has a nice fruity sweetness from the blood orange faint raspberry. There is a little bitter hoppy note on the aroma too. The taste is sweet with blood orange and light raspberry. I also found a lithe bitter hoppy flavor that was masked by the fruity flavors, but it is there. The fruit flavors are on the thinker side but the mouthfeel has a medium fruity feel to it. Topical Frightening finishes with a fruity touch of blood orangey raspberry with a hint of bitterness. The aftertaste is blood orange sweet with bits of faint hop bitterness. I feel that the blood orange does give it a bittersweet flavor, and the raspberry keeps that from becoming too bitter and gives the sweetness a slight boost. Overall I liked Wilmington Brewing company Tropical Frightening, and I give it an A-. The label said raspberry and I got just a tiny bit. That is the only gripe I have with this imperial IPA. It’s worth a try. Please be kind, stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer & Fair State Brewing cooperative Dark Bohemian Lager

Burial Beer & Fair State Brewing Cooperative Dark Bohemian Lager, 4.2% is a collaboration between the two breweries and is a one-off beer. Bohemian hops are used in this dark lager. Now dark lagers are just lagers brewed with some kind of dark malts. This one pours a deep black color with a cream semi off-white two and a half slow fading sticky head. The aroma is creamy roasted sweetness with light coffee notes. It doesn’t have an aroma like a big beer. The taste is creamy sweet, malty, roasted, and you get a little coffee flavor with a light mouthfeel. This dark Bohemian lager finishes smooth with some roasted malts and a sweetness that does carry over to the aftertaste faintest of bitter notes. This Burial Beer & Fair State Brewing Cooperative Dark Bohemian Lager reminded me of how I like a dark lager. It was really good as is the major majority of Burial Beers. I think it is well-deserving of an A+. It is well brewed with exceptional flavor that you should try for yourself. Please be kind out there, stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
