Legion Brewing Supernova Strawberry Mango Sour Ale

Supernova Strawberry Mango Sour Ale, 4.7%, is a Berliner Weisse beer and has a few different varieties. This soured ale is brewed by Legion Brewing here in Charlotte, North Carolina. Legion Brewing uses fresh strawberries and mango. This beer pours a light red, orange color with a one-and-a-half-finger white fizzy head. The aroma is tart, with strawberry, mango, and some sour notes. The beer tastes tart with light strawberries and a little mango. Overall the flavor of the beer is thin. The mouthfeel is light. Then this beer finishes with a tart, vague fruit flavor. Then comes an aftertaste of tart/sour flavors. This beer was not such a good beer, but I wouldn’t call it bad. I give Supernova Strawberry Mango Sour Ale a C-. The sour/tart flavors keep the fruity flavor down, and I would’ve liked more of a fruity flavor. It is refreshing to drink and not heavy at all. But I think I am finding out I might not be a big fan of fruity sour ales. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

NoDa Brewing Company Watermelon Gose

This locally made beer, Watermelon Gose, 4.0% ABV, is from NoDa Brewing Company in Charlotte, North Carolina. This sour beer fermented on watermelon puree with NoDa’s original Gose base. This beer pours a golden color with a thick two-finger white head that fizzy away rather quickly. The aroma is light watermelon, tart, and a bit salty. The taste is similar to its smell, with light watermelon tartness, and salt. The mouthfeel is light and refreshing. Then it has a tart and salty finish with a faint watermelon flavor. The watermelon flavor fades into a tart flavor, salty-sweet fruity flavor aftertaste. The whole watermelon flavor is very light, as is the entire beer. This NoDa Brewing Company Watermelon Gose is terrible. It’s a B-. It slowly grows on you as you drink this, and I found it refreshingly easy to drink. Yes, this would be a good summer recommendation. But I think there are better examples of a Gose beer out there. But NoDa wasn’t going for the best traditional Gose here. They were making a tasty summer beer, and watermelon plus a Gose was their best idea. It did not disappoint. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Partake Brewing Cherry Gose

We’re back after a break of no reviews! Here is a different kind of beer that I don’t usually review here. This beer is Cherry Gose a non-alcoholic craft beer from Partake brewing. Partake Brewing is in Toronto, Canada. It is a non-alcoholic cat beer brewery. This Cherry Gose pours a pale yellow color with a one-and-half-finger fizzy white head. The head fades quickly into itself. The aroma is a big cherry aroma. But it’s a fake cherry candy scent and not much else there. The flavor is not like its own aroma. It’s light on cherry, and there is light coriander. This beer is thin and weak overall. I thought it was watery as well. It is easy to drink. The mouthfeel is light. Then it has a very light aftertaste and finishes of cherry that fades quickly, leaving a metallic taste in your mouth. The beers smells fine. But it was not a great beer. I give Partake Brewing Cherry Gose a D-. I didn’t get through the entire twelve ounces. I got only to nine and couldn’t finish the last three ounces. It tasted artificial and light. I don’t recommend this. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Sugar Creek Brewing Company Hi-Creek Fruit Punch Sour Ale

Ever since I hear about Sugar Creek Brewing Company’s Hi-Creek I have been on the lookout for this. So yesterday I saw it on the back of the beer shelf at my local Harris Teeter grocery store. This is a 6.0% ABV fruit punch sour ale. It is kettle-soured. This sour ale pours an orange color with a half-finger white head. The aroma is fruity with cherry, orange, and strawberry. The aroma is also tart & sour. The taste is fruity, tart, and sour. You get orange and cherry but almost no strawberries are present on your taste buds. It has low bitterness. The mouthfeel is light. Then this sour ale finishes with a tart sour flavor, but not too sour/tart. The aftertaste is fruity and sour with a little tartness, This is a good sour but needs more fruit flavor to make it perfect. It is a B+ from me. I enjoyed and will enjoy this again. The can art is eye-catching and fun. Sugar Creek Brewing Company did a good job with Hi-Creek. You should try it! Please be kind, be safe and always remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Legion Brewing Pineapple Juicy Jay India pale ale

Pineapple Juicy Jay IPA, 6.5% ABV, is Legion Brewing’s pineapple version of their Juicy Jay IPA. This IPA uses pineapple puree. This beer is made locally in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have had the non-pineapple version of Juicy Jay many times, but never this version. This IPA pours a pineapple yellow color that is hard to see through. It has a two and a half finger white, steady head. The aroma is juicy and tropical, with some bittersweetness. The flavor is also fruity with bittersweetness and touches of tartness. The mouthfeel is slightly medium. Then this pineapple IPA finishes with a nice bitter pineapple flavor. Then the aftertaste of tropical fruit comes. This beer is a good variation of Juicy Jay IPA. I give it an A. I highly recommend it. It’s bright and tropical without being overly bitter. There is just enough pineapple flavor to give it that tropical feel. This beer is a good summer IPA. Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Johny Bootleggers Sing Sing Sour Grape

This is the last of the Johny Bootleggers malt beverages that I received. This is Sing Sing Sour Grape, 12% ABV. This is the same Alcohol by volume percent as all the other flavors that came from Laval Québec Canada. This pours a dark candy purple color. This grape beverage has a fake sweetness of fake grape candy aroma. The taste is similar to its smell. There is a fake sweet, candy grape flavor that is not the worst flavor. I also found that it isn’t sour at all. I don’t know what their Idea of sour is, but that’s not sour. This grape beverage tastes like fake grape candy. The mouthfeel is light. It then finishes with a grape sweetness and not much on the aftertaste. There is a sugary flavor for an aftertaste. This Sing Sing Sour Grape from Johny Bootleggers was not the worst of the three. I give this one a D+. It has more of a fruit flavor to it than the Alcatraz Sour Apple, which had a chemical taste to it. This one is just fake grape candy. That gave it a few points. The best was the Syndicate City Sour Peach. But I wouldn’t rush out for that one or any of these. All of these aren’t the worst I’ve ever had, and I don’t think they are disgusting. They all have a fake flavor to them, and some fake flavors can be okay. Please be kind, stay safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer Mystic Caravan India Pale Ale

This beer is another beer from Burial Beer. This beer is Mystic Caravan India Pale Ale, 7% ABV. This IPA has rice and Lychee fruit. Lychee is a tropical fruit that is red on the outside and white on the inside. It grows in Eastern and Southeastern Asia. This beer is a collaboration with Unseen Creatures Brewery and Blending. This IPA is double-dry-hopped with Citra, Nelson, and Topaz hops. It’s fermented with Lychee fruit, mashed with rich, and barely. This beer pours a cloudy yellow color, with a one and a half finger white head. The aroma is semi-sweet, fruity, and hoppy. The taste of this IPA is dry yet semi-sweet, hoppy, fruity, and citrusy. It has a lighter mouthfeel. It then finishes with a bitter dry flavor. The aftertaste is dry and hoppy with a citrusy flavor. Burial Beer, Mystic Caravan India Pale Ale is interesting, with rice and lychee. I give this IPA a B. The l sweetness threw it off a little, but it wasn’t the worst. This beer is good. But for an IPA, I’ve had some that are better. I would recommend this but not to the average run-of-the-mill IPA drinker. I enjoyed it, and yes, I could have more than a couple. Please be kind, be safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

450 North Brewing Co. Slushy XXXL Marshmallow Frosty Flakes

I am getting a little tired of this fruit slushy/smoothie-style beer by this point. What I have here is 405 North Brewing Co. Slushy XXXL Marshmallow Frooty Flakes, 5.3%.b All of these from this brewery have the same alcohol by volume. This fruity beer has raspberry, orange, marshmallow, cherry, vanilla ice cream, and lime. This beer pours a purple color with a quarter finger light purple head that quickly fades away. The aroma is fruity, orange, and lime. It is also sweet yet tart. The flavor is creamy, sweet, and tart. You’ll find light raspberry, light cherry, orange, and tart lime. The lime flavor is where it starts to fall off. This beer finishes with a lime flavor. That same lime flavor then carries itself into the aftertaste and lingers. The mouthfeel is full, and it coats the mouth. I found 405 North Brewing Co. Slushy XXXL Marshmallow Frooty Flakes not as good as the rest. I give this a C-. The lime flavor tastes like it should not be there. It adds a kind of off-tasting flavor to this beer. Also, the orange was a bit strange taste too. I don’t think I’d try 405 North Brewing Co. Slushy XXXL Marshmallow Frooty Flakes. Please be kind, stay safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

450 North Brewing Co. Slushy XL Strawberry-drank

This beer may be the last one I have from this brewery. This beer is 450 North Brewing Co. Slushy XL Strawyberry-drank, 5.3% ABV. This fruited beer has strawberry, banana, strawberry-ice cream, and vanilla. This beer pours a pinkish color with a half finger of pink-ish head. It fizzy away quickly. The aroma is big on strawberries. There also is some banana, sweetness, and vanilla. The taste is also big on Strawberries, and I got banana, ice cream, and vanilla. This beer has a slight tartness to its fruity sweet finish. The aftertaste is sweet with some tartness of banana. The mouthfeel is full and thick. This fruity beer coats your mouth. I have said this about all of these beers before. I cannot have more than one. I would not go straight for this type of beer. It has a bold flavor profile. It wasn’t bad. I give it a B. The slight tart flavor at the end throws it off just a bit. This beer is more of a novelty beer. But I think it’s interestingly different and unique. Please be kind, stay safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

450 North Brewing Company XXXL Slushy Wake -n- Bake

Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you had a good one. This beer, 450 North Brewing Company Slushy XXXL Wake -n- Bake, 5.3%, is the first beer review of the new year. It is made with pineapple, peach, dragonfruit, banana, kiwi, and watermelon. It pours a thick, headless, yellow color. The aroma of this beer is sweet, juicy, tropical, fruity. I got pineapple, dragonfruit, and light kiwi. The taste is sweet and fruity. There is tropical pineapple, light peach flavors, kiwi, and dragonfruit. The mouthfeel is thick and full. It then finishes with a slight tropical tart fruity flavor. The aftertaste is big on the pineapple. I think this slushy fruity beer style is a novelty thing. I mean, I don’t see myself going for more than one of them. It is very fruity and sweet. I give this 450 North Brewing Company Slush a B-. It’s thick and sweet with a load of fruit by the end, it overpowers your tastebuds. But I would go as far and say it terrible. Please be kind, stay safe and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
