Wooden Robot Brewery Overachiever Pale Ale

Overachiever is a Pale Ale from Wooden Robot Brewery in Charlotte, North Carolina. This 5.3% ABV beer is only sold in twelve-ounce six-packs at their Brewery. Overachiever has local Epiphany craft malts, Simcoe, Centennial, and Strata hops. Wooden Robot Brewery doesn’t really distribute their beer into the Charlotte area, so finding this or any of their beer is a bit difficult unless you go to the source, which Wooden Robot Brewery is a cool place to go. This Pale Ale pours light orange with barely a one finger head of fizzy clear bubbles. The aroma is bitter and fruity with sweetness. The flavor of Overachiever is tropical fruits, citrus, bitterness, sweetness, light pine notes, and it is smooth with a light body. Overachiever is light to almost a medium feel in the mouth. This has a smooth bitter fruit finish and a fruity and bitter aftertaste. Wooden Robot Brewery Overachiever Pale was good, and a B. It was more like a mild fruity IPA than a traditional Pale Ale. But that was good in my opinion, and I found this beer not to be overly hoppy and bitter. I’d recommend Overachiever Pale Ale. It has good fruit and bitter flavors. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Brewery Unibroue La Fin Du Monde

This beer is a Belgian-style Triple called La Fin Du Monde, or The End of The World. This Triple is by Brewery Unibroue in Chambly, Québec, Canada. This beer is named after what the French explorers called Québec. They thought they were at the end of the world. I have had this beer before and thought it was time to review it. I thought, why haven’t I reviewed this? This beer is 9% ABV. I have found most beer of this style roughly the same ABV percentage. This Triple beer pours a golden, cloudy color with a bright white two and a half finger head. The aroma is fruity with some banana and a little spice on the nose. This beer is sweet as well, but not too sweet smelling. The flavor has banana, sweetness, and a light spice note. This triple ale has a strong flavor from the alcohol but also light-bodied. This beer is fuller on feeling in the mouth. Then it has a fruity, sweet, and spiced finish. The aftertaste is lightly fruity and sweet but has a bit of the strength from the 9% alcohol. La Fin Du Mound is so delicious and well deserving of an A+. If you haven’t had this beer, then you should go immediately and get this. It’s one of my top favorite triples. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Royal Bliss Brewing Co. Toasted Knight Coconut Porter

Brewed in Denver, North Carolina, by Royal Bliss Brewing Co., Toasted Knight is a 5.3% ABV coconut Porter. This porter has heavily toasted bittersweet coconut spreads. Toasted Knight pours black with an almost two-finger beige head. The head is semi-sticky as it fades into itself. The aroma is of roasted coffee, bitterness, and coconut. The taste is chocolate, with roasted notes and bittersweet coconut, which is smooth. This beer has a fuller mouthfeel. Then, this beer has a bittersweet finish. The finish is smooth. The aftertaste is of roasted noted and bittersweetness. I found Toasted Knight good and would give this a B-. The coconut really adds good flavor to the beer. I would recommend this beer. But I think this isn’t the best coconut porter, but it’s worth drinking. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Sapporo Premium Black Beer

We’re back after a dry January, and it’s nice to be back. This is Sapporo Premium Black Beer, a dark lager. This beer is 5% ABV. According to Sapporo, the passion for the craftsmanship of this beer has gone back one hundred and forty years. This beer has dark roast malts, select barley, and hops and is brewed in several places in Japan, Canada, and Vietnam. This black lager pours a light black with a sticky three-finger beige head. The aroma is malted, light coffee roast, and dark. The flavor is dark, roasted, light coffee, malty, smooth, and light bodies. I found this beer slightly watery in the back of the mouth. This has a medium feel in the mouth. Then, the beer comes to a slightly roasted malt finish. Then comes a lightly malted aftertaste that fades really quick. I think this beer is fine, but there are better dark lagers out there. Sapporo Premium Black Beer is a C-. It is okay, but nothing really memorable. It wouldn’t be a bad choice to try if you wanted. I just don’t find it to be perfect. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Orion Beer Co., LTD Orion Premium Draft Beer

This Japanese rice lager is imported from Okinawa, Japan. A typical rice lager uses rice instead of corn. This beer is 5% ABV and was purchased from my local International grocery store, Super Global Mart or Super G Mart. They have a decent selection of International beer/craft beer and some domestic beer and craft beers. I highly recommend you check it out if you live or are in the Charlotte, North Carolina, area. I have had Orion at a restaurant but never had it to review until now. This beer pours golden clean with a thin, quickly fading one-finger white head. The aroma is semi-sweet and dry. The smell isn’t much, but it does smell like a domestic U.S. beer. The flavor is sweet, smooth, dry, light, and clean. This beer goes down easy. This has a light mouthfeel. Orion finishes with a dry and light sweetness. There is not much aftertaste, but it has a faint, sweet dryness that goes away as quickly as it started. This beer is great with Asian food. Orion Premium Draft is a D+. It is okay on its own, but with food, it’s a bit better, and I think it is good enough for a try. This January I will be doing a dry January, so I will be back to normally scheduled reviewing. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout

This Oatmeal Stout from one of my favorite breweries, Samuel Smith, is a Tadcaster, England product and runs Samuel Smith’s pubs throughout the United Kingdom. This brewery was founded way back in 1758 by Humphery Smith. This Stout is 5% ABV and is fermented on Yorkshire squares. This stout pours black with a slow and creamy two-finger beige. The aroma is oaty, sweet, and dark. The flavor has sweet and dark oatmeal notes and is creamy. This beer has a slightly full mouthfeel. Then, this dark stout finishes with a nice bittersweet oatmeal note. But that is more on the sweet side than the bitter. The aftertaste is creamy with a light sweetness that lingers till you take another sip. This is an A+ delicious beer. I highly recommend Samuel Smith’s oatmeal Stout. This has a smoothness that really adds to its overall deliciousness. It doesn’t have a strong alcohol presence like more craft versions of this beer style, which makes this beer more enjoyable. But this is just one very delicious beer in a great lineup of delicious Samuel Smith beer. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly. Cheers!

Brewery Heyghe Delirium Noël

Made in Melle, Belgium, outside Gent, a short drive away, Delirium Noël is a Christmas beer or winter ale, 10% ABV. This beer is seasonal and available during the holidays. Noël pours brown/red with a two-finger beige slow head. The aroma is spiced, dark fruits, boozy and sweet. The flavor is strong, spicy, sweet, and smooth. The mouthfeel is full and slightly rice. Noël finishes with a strong bit of booze and sweet/spiced notes. The aftertaste is baking spices with sweetness. This is a good Christmas beer that is an A. It has a good spiced profile that cuts the alcohol notes and some sweetness, making this a delicious recommendation. But it’s only around for the holidays, so go for it! Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibility! Cheers!

Dogfish Head Brewery 60 Minute IPA

As long as I have been writing and blogging about beer, I have never had a Dogfish Head beer. The Dogfish Head Brewery has been in operation since 1994, but as of 2019, it has been part of the Boston Beer Company. They are known for Samual Adams. This beer is 60 Minute IPA, which is 6% ABV. This IPA is hopped for 6o minutes, and they add 60 hop additions constantly. This IPA pours a golden amber/copper color with a one-finger white head. The head fades at a semi-quick pace. The aroma is bitter and malty, with light sweetness. The flavor is bitter/hoppy, malty, sweet, and smooth. This IPA has a semi-light feeling in the mouth. This beer finishes smooth with some bitter hop flavors. The aftertaste is bitter but less bitter than its initial flavor. There is not much aftertaste. This is more of a classic IPA. How IPAs were twenty-four to twenty-five years ago. I like that type of IPA because it differs from all the New England, West Coast, and Hazy IPAs that have become so popular. I still like those kinds of IPAs. But it’s nice to have something different. This is a good IPA that doesn’t overpower your taste buds. This IPA is a B+. I can’t believe it has been this long, and I have not had Dogfish Head Brewery 60 Minute IPA. I recommend it! Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! cheers!

Wrexham Lager

This is an English Lager produced by the Wrexham Brewery from 1881 to 2000, when the brewery closed. Then, two years later, in 2002, Martyn Jones (a former employee), a member of Parliament for the nearby Clywd South constituency, bought the original building for one pound in 2001. Fast forward to 2024, and the current co-owners of the Wrexham F.C., Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and the Allyn Family purchased the majority stake in the brewery. Now this lager is distributed in the USA and Canada. This lager is 4% ABV. That is lower than the average lager beer. This beer pours golden with a two-finger white head. The head is semi-quicky to face into some lacing. The aroma is barely crisp, clean, and with a light bitterness. The flavor is refreshing and bitter with a clean/crips barley flavor. This has a light feel in the mouth. Then, it has a crisp finish with a slightly bitter bit. The aftertaste is resting and light, with a good, clean flavor that lingers with a hint of bitterness. This Wrexham lager is good but average. I give Wrexham Lager a high C+. It’s worth a try, in my opinion. The bitterness is okay but not something I like in a lager beer, but I’d still return to Wrexham Lager. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer A Measured Procession of Veracity India Pale Ale

This IPA, brewed in Asheville, North Carolina, with a heavy hand of Motueka hops and finished with a dose of Strata and Amarillo hops, is a Measured Procession of Veracity. This IPA is 7% ABV. Yes, almost all of Burial Beer has a long and dark name. This beer pours a bright yellow with a two-finger white creamy head. That head is steady to fad into itself before leaving semi-decent lacing. The aroma is juicy, musty, dry, and bitter. The flavor is juicy with grapefruit, musty, dry, sharp, and bitter. The flavor is slightly harsh at first. Then it becomes slightly better. This has a fuller mouthfeel. The finish is dry, chalky, and bitter fruits. The aftertaste is okay. There is a dryness to the finish and less fruity flavor but a good amount of bitterness. This is the first Burial Beer I did not enjoy, I think this IPA is a C-. The dryness and the fruity flavors don’t really go that well together. That is what the off-flavor up is, and that holds this beer back. But I still like Burial Beer. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
