Burial Beer Bright Italian-Style Pilsner

Italian-style pilsners are simply German-style pilsners that have been dry-hopped with European hops. This maximizes the aroma without adding/imparting bitterness. This Italian Pilsner is Bright from Burial Beer in Asheville, North Carolina. This Burial Beer does not have such a long name like most of their beer. This beer has a yellow color with a three-finger steady white head. The aroma has a light bitterness to it with some sweet notes. The flavor is light with some sweet notes. The flavor of this beer is thin and crisp. It does have a refreshing quality to it. This Italian-style pilsner has a light feel in the mouth. This beer has a crisp bitter/sweet finish that lingers into the aftertaste. The aftertaste is slightly thin. Burial Beer Bight is not a terrible beer, I give this beer A B-. The dry-hopping has added a little bitterness, to this which is not terrible, but it is also not great. I would recommend Bight Italian-style pilsner. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers

Foothills Brewing Happyum Imperial IPA

It has been a while since I’ve had a Foothills Brewing beer. This IS Happyum Imperial IPA, which is 8.0% ABV. This beer has four different hop varieties, which I could not find out what they are. This IPA pours a semi-thick, cloudy, bright yellow color with a three-finger white head. The aroma is pineapple, citrusy orange, hoppy, and strong. The flavor is pineapple, orange, hoppy notes, and alcoholic. It is not overly strong. The mouthfeel is fuller. This Happyum Imperial IPA has a fruity and hoppy finish. Then you get some orange bitterness in the aftertaste. This is a great beer; as usual, Foothills brews great IPAs and other beers. Happyum Imperial IPA is an A+ beer. It was delicious and I highly recommend it. It is not overwhelming on your tastebuds, I could’ve had another one. Please stay safe, be kind to everyone, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Barrel-Age Torpedo

Torpedo from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is their core IPA. But this beer is barrel-aged Torpedo. It is aged in bourbon barrels and is 8.6% ABV. This IPA has fresh Citra And Pacifica hops. This is a limited-release beer. This IPA pours a deep orange/copper color with a three-finger light beige head. The aroma is boozy, light vanilla, fruity, hoppy, and bitter. The flavor is boozy, tropical, fruity, light vanilla, light coconut, bitter, and hoppy. The mouthfeels medium. This IPA finishes with a fruity, earthy-bourbon flavor. That finish lingers into the aftertaste that has more boozy notes to it. I don’t see many Barrel-aged IPAs, and I think this Barrel-aged Torpedo is the first I’ve seen and tasted. This is not a terrible beer, but it’s not the best. I give this Barrel-Age Topedo a C+. It has a nice barrel flavor from the Bourbon barrel, and it doesn’t clash with the IPA, but I wouldn’t say they go great together. This is more of an interesting beer than anything else. Please stay safe, be kind to everyone, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

New Holland Brewing Dragon’s Milk Tales of Gold Bourbon-Barrel-Aged Golden Ale

This beer, a strong golden ale From New Holland Brewing, is Dragon’s Milk Tale of Gold Bourbon-Barrel-Aged Gold Ale. This Ale is made in New Holland, Michigan. This is a year-round beer made with milk sugars. This ale comes in at 11% ABV. This beer is part of the Dragon’s Milk beers. This beer pours a deep orange/light copper color with a one-and-a-half-finger white head. The aroma of this beer is sweet, vanilla, malty, and boozy. The taste is sweet from the vanilla and milk sugars. This beer has a smooth, creamy, and malty note. The mouth feels medium. Then it has a sweet malted finish. Then you get a boozy sweet aftertaste. The aftertaste has a light malt flavor that tastes faded. Dragon’s Milk Tales of Gold is not what I was expecting. I thought this beer would be strong and have a more bourbon-like flavor. This beer drinks well for 11% ABV, smoother than some beers with the same ABV. I give this bourbon-barrel-aged beer a B+. The vanilla was a bit sweeter than some barrel-aged beers. It took over the flavor profile. I would recommend New Holland Brewing Dragon’s Milk Tales Of Gold Bourbon-Barrel-Aged Golden Ale. Please stay safe, be kind to everyone, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Radeberger Gruppe Radebeberger Pilsner Zwickelbier Hazy

This imported beer from Redeberger, Germany, is Redeberger Pilsner Zwicklebier Hazy. This is produced by the Radeberger Gruppe. This beer is a Kellerbier/Zwicklebier style and is a love 4.8% ABV. This hazy Zwickelbier is unfiltered and served exclusively at select accounts in the U.S.A. This beer is still fermenting while it’s being canned. This Pilsner pours a hazy, bright yellow with a three-and-a-half finger white head that slowly fades into decent-looking lacing. The aroma is light lemon, sweetness, light bread notes, and some hoppy aromas. The flavor is light, clean, happy, somewhat beady, and sweet. The mouthfeel is lighter. Then this beer finishes with a light, hoppy and sweet flavor. Then you get a nice light hopped aftertaste with a faintly sweet fruit flavor. This is a delicious beer. I give Radeberger Pilsner Zwickelbier Hazy an A. The bitterness is just a little off but doesn’t keep it from tasting delicious, and from me recommending it. This is how traditional German beer is supposed to taste. Please stay safe, be kind to everyone, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Dssolver Brewing & Hoofhearted Brewing Cold Caprese Pizza Italian-Style Pilsner

Today’s beer is Cold Caprese Pizza Italian-Style Pilsner. This beer is a 5.1% ABV collaboration between Dssolver Brewing in Asheville, North Carolina, and Hoofhearted Brewing in Marengo, Ohio. This beer has Riverbend Pilsner Malt, Hallertauer, Mittelffuh, and Pacifica hops. This Pilsner pours a yellow color with a two-finger fizzy white head. The aroma is soft, dry, hoppy, and sweet. The flavor is hoppy, sweet, light, and dry. There are some lightly breaded notes. The mouthfeel is bright. Then this Italian-style Pilsner finishes with a light, hoppy, and dry flavor. Then you get an aftertaste of dry and light bitterness. This is a good beer that is on the hoppy side for most Pilsners. That is a characteristic of an Italian Pilsner. This beer was good, and it’s a B+ from me. The dry and bitter flavors don’t combine well. That’s keeping this beer at a B+. It’s good otherwise, and I would suggest you try Cold Caprese Pizza Italian-Style Pilsner. Please stay safe, be kind to everyone, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

NoDa Brewing Company Purely Intentional Breakfast Stout

This beer is Purely Intentional Breakfast Stout by NoDa Brewing Company. This beer uses local Pure Intentions Coffee. This beer is 6.4% ABV. This Stout pours a thick dark black color with a one and a half finger beige head. There is some beige around the edges after the head fades. The aroma is roasted coffee and bitter coffee. The flavor is creamy, roasted coffee, bitter coffee, and a little malted noted. The mouthfeel is full, smooth and coats the mouth. Then it comes to a nice bitter-roasted coffee finish. Then you get an aftertaste of bitter coffee with some creaminess. This beer was not so terrible, but I found the bitter notes from the coffee to dominate the flavor a bit. So I would give Purely Intentional Breakfast Stout a B-. The creamy roasted flavor did help. I don’t think this is terrible tasting, but I would not go back to this again for a while. Please stay safe, be kind to everyone, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Revelry Brewing Limbo King Kellerpils

A Kellerbier is a German style of beer that is a lager that has cellared, referring to its cool lager temperatures. Pilsner is a pale lager named after the Bohemian town of Pizen. So Revelry Brewing in Charleston, South Carolina, combined a Kellerbier and Pilsner to make Limbo Champ a German Kellerpils. This beer is 4.5% ABV. This beer pours a pale yellow color with a foamy four-finger white head. The head fades steadily, leaving decent lacing. The aroma is a little bit of lemon/banana. It’s sweet and breaded. The taste is light lemon, sweet, clean, and crisp with a very light hop note. The mouthfeel is light. Then this beer finishes clean with a light, hoppy sweet note. Then you come to a light bread aftertaste that comes and goes quickly. This beer is tasty. I give Limbo Champ an A+. These two delicious beer styles together make an excellent beer. This beer is one that you need to have. It is refreshing, not too high in alcohol, or heavy on flavors. You can drink a few of these without the flavors overwhelming you. Please stay safe, be kind, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Gilde Brewery Pilsner

This beer is a traditional Geman Lager Pilsner from Gilde Brewery that dates back to 1546. This brewery is in Hannover, Germany. But they have a relatively new location here in Charlotte, North Carolina. This pilsner is 4.9%. This location is a beer hall and is the United States and probably the rest of North America’s import office. This beer is from Hannover. This beer pours a golden color with a two-finger white head. The aroma is sweet, with bread (biscuits) and light malts. The flavor is also bread, biscuits, light hops, and sweetness. The mouthfeel is light. Then this pilsner beer finishes nice and clean with crisp bread light, sweet flavor. This beer has a light bitter/sweet aftertaste that doesn’t linger. I am a big pilsner fan, and this is a solid delicious pilsner. I give Gilde Brewery Pilsner an A+. The flavor is slightly lighter than some pilsners have had, and that’s good. It makes for a more drinkable/approachable beer. I highly recommend this German Pilsner. It’s tasty stuff. Please stay safe, be kind, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Heist Brewery Druid Pils South

Druid Pils South is German-style Pilsner and the younger brother of Druid Pils, both by Heist Brewery here in Charlotte, North Carolina. This beer comes in at 4.5% ABV. This beer pours a typical yellow pilsner color with a thin one-finger fizzy white head. The aroma is semi-sweet and crisp. There is not much going on with the beer aroma. The taste is semi-sweet, crisp, and light white bread notes, thin and light. I did get a slight off-flavor of hoppy peppery notes that wasn’t so great. The mouthfeel is thin. There is not much there. Then comes a bitter finish. But it is a mild bitterness. The aftertaste is much but a crisp bitter cracker. This beer was not so great. I’d say that Druid Pils South a D+. Halfway through this beer, I might have given it a C-, but it got slightly worse through the second half. I don’t recommend you drink this. One off-putting flavor can take a beer down and make it less enjoyable. This beer is an example of that. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
