Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout

This Oatmeal Stout from one of my favorite breweries, Samuel Smith, is a Tadcaster, England product and runs Samuel Smith’s pubs throughout the United Kingdom. This brewery was founded way back in 1758 by Humphery Smith. This Stout is 5% ABV and is fermented on Yorkshire squares. This stout pours black with a slow and creamy two-finger beige. The aroma is oaty, sweet, and dark. The flavor has sweet and dark oatmeal notes and is creamy. This beer has a slightly full mouthfeel. Then, this dark stout finishes with a nice bittersweet oatmeal note. But that is more on the sweet side than the bitter. The aftertaste is creamy with a light sweetness that lingers till you take another sip. This is an A+ delicious beer. I highly recommend Samuel Smith’s oatmeal Stout. This has a smoothness that really adds to its overall deliciousness. It doesn’t have a strong alcohol presence like more craft versions of this beer style, which makes this beer more enjoyable. But this is just one very delicious beer in a great lineup of delicious Samuel Smith beer. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly. Cheers!

Brewery Heyghe Delirium Noël

Made in Melle, Belgium, outside Gent, a short drive away, Delirium Noël is a Christmas beer or winter ale, 10% ABV. This beer is seasonal and available during the holidays. Noël pours brown/red with a two-finger beige slow head. The aroma is spiced, dark fruits, boozy and sweet. The flavor is strong, spicy, sweet, and smooth. The mouthfeel is full and slightly rice. Noël finishes with a strong bit of booze and sweet/spiced notes. The aftertaste is baking spices with sweetness. This is a good Christmas beer that is an A. It has a good spiced profile that cuts the alcohol notes and some sweetness, making this a delicious recommendation. But it’s only around for the holidays, so go for it! Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibility! Cheers!

Dogfish Head Brewery 60 Minute IPA

As long as I have been writing and blogging about beer, I have never had a Dogfish Head beer. The Dogfish Head Brewery has been in operation since 1994, but as of 2019, it has been part of the Boston Beer Company. They are known for Samual Adams. This beer is 60 Minute IPA, which is 6% ABV. This IPA is hopped for 6o minutes, and they add 60 hop additions constantly. This IPA pours a golden amber/copper color with a one-finger white head. The head fades at a semi-quick pace. The aroma is bitter and malty, with light sweetness. The flavor is bitter/hoppy, malty, sweet, and smooth. This IPA has a semi-light feeling in the mouth. This beer finishes smooth with some bitter hop flavors. The aftertaste is bitter but less bitter than its initial flavor. There is not much aftertaste. This is more of a classic IPA. How IPAs were twenty-four to twenty-five years ago. I like that type of IPA because it differs from all the New England, West Coast, and Hazy IPAs that have become so popular. I still like those kinds of IPAs. But it’s nice to have something different. This is a good IPA that doesn’t overpower your taste buds. This IPA is a B+. I can’t believe it has been this long, and I have not had Dogfish Head Brewery 60 Minute IPA. I recommend it! Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! cheers!

Wrexham Lager

This is an English Lager produced by the Wrexham Brewery from 1881 to 2000, when the brewery closed. Then, two years later, in 2002, Martyn Jones (a former employee), a member of Parliament for the nearby Clywd South constituency, bought the original building for one pound in 2001. Fast forward to 2024, and the current co-owners of the Wrexham F.C., Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and the Allyn Family purchased the majority stake in the brewery. Now this lager is distributed in the USA and Canada. This lager is 4% ABV. That is lower than the average lager beer. This beer pours golden with a two-finger white head. The head is semi-quicky to face into some lacing. The aroma is barely crisp, clean, and with a light bitterness. The flavor is refreshing and bitter with a clean/crips barley flavor. This has a light feel in the mouth. Then, it has a crisp finish with a slightly bitter bit. The aftertaste is resting and light, with a good, clean flavor that lingers with a hint of bitterness. This Wrexham lager is good but average. I give Wrexham Lager a high C+. It’s worth a try, in my opinion. The bitterness is okay but not something I like in a lager beer, but I’d still return to Wrexham Lager. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer A Measured Procession of Veracity India Pale Ale

This IPA, brewed in Asheville, North Carolina, with a heavy hand of Motueka hops and finished with a dose of Strata and Amarillo hops, is a Measured Procession of Veracity. This IPA is 7% ABV. Yes, almost all of Burial Beer has a long and dark name. This beer pours a bright yellow with a two-finger white creamy head. That head is steady to fad into itself before leaving semi-decent lacing. The aroma is juicy, musty, dry, and bitter. The flavor is juicy with grapefruit, musty, dry, sharp, and bitter. The flavor is slightly harsh at first. Then it becomes slightly better. This has a fuller mouthfeel. The finish is dry, chalky, and bitter fruits. The aftertaste is okay. There is a dryness to the finish and less fruity flavor but a good amount of bitterness. This is the first Burial Beer I did not enjoy, I think this IPA is a C-. The dryness and the fruity flavors don’t really go that well together. That is what the off-flavor up is, and that holds this beer back. But I still like Burial Beer. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Booneshine Brewing Co. East Boone Pilsner

This Pilsner from Booneshine Brewing Co. has Pilsen Malts and Magnum Haltertauer hops brewed in Boone, North Carolina. This Pilsner is 5% ABV. I have been looking for and trying more Pilsners lately because the beer I see on store shelves is some sort of IPA. I still like IPA. But I’d like to keep this blog diverse. This Pilsner pours bright yellow with a two-finger white head that fades slowly. The aroma is crisp, lightly peppery, and clean. The flavor is crisp, peppery, clean, light-bodied, and has a very faint lemon note. The mouthfeel is light. Then, it has a crisp and clean finish and a refreshingly light aftertaste. This is a great beer that I give an A+. East Boone Pilsner is a beer that I recommend and drink over and over. The flavor is such that you could have an entire four-pack. Booneshine Brewing Co. is becoming one of my top breweries. They brew delicious beer that you should be drinking. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Birdsong Brewing Co. Peel Good Inc.

Peel Good Inc. is a sour ale with blood oranges from Birdsong Brewing Co. in Charlotte, North Carolina. This sour ale is 5% ABV. I am a big fan of blood oranges. I love all kinds of blood orange beverages and the blood oranges themselves. This beer pours an almost yellow-light orange with a one-finger head. The head is gone as soon as it is poured. The aroma is tart blood orange with a hint of sweetness. The flavor is blood orange, tart, and sour. This is not too tart, but it has enough tartness. This has a light but tart mouthfeel. Then, it finishes with a tartness that fades into a light sourness. The aftertaste is orangey and tart and lingers for a moment. This is a good sour ale that is a B+. It could use a tiny bit more blood orange flavor. That would be my only complaint about this beer. Yes, you should be drinking this, but not a whole lot. The flavor would get overwhelming after three. I still like this beer from Birdsong. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Cool Little Thing IPA

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is making Cool Little Thing IPA for a limited time. This IPA is a Cryo Fresh hazy IP with Cryo Fresh Mosaic. It also has a trio of other subzero cryo hops like Crystal, Comet, and El Dorado. Cryo Fresh IPAs are beers made with Cryo hops, which have been processed using a patented cryogenic process to isolate the lupulin, the source of a beer’s flavor and aroma. The process uses cold temperatures and a mechanical sieve to remove vegetative matter from the hop cones, resulting in a lupulin-rich powder.  This IPA pours hazy yellow with a two-finger white head. The aroma is tropical fruits with bitterness/hoppy notes. The flavor is also bitter with tropical fruits (oranges) and creamy. This has a creamy feel in the mouth. This IPA does feel a bit heavy on the pallet. The finish is creamy, fruity, and bitter. It’s not overly bitter, though. The aftertaste is bitter tropical fruits. It does linger for a short moment. I picked this beer because it sounded interesting. I wanted to see what Cryo Fresh was about. It really brings out the flavors of the hops. This beer is an A+ and one beer you should be drinking. Please enjoy responsibly, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

NoDa Brewing Co. Cheerwine Holiday Ale

NoDa Brewing Co. Cheerwine Holiday Ale is a seasonal/holiday version of Cheerwine Ale. This beer is 5.2% ABV wheat ale with cheery and pineapple. This ale is supposed to be a beer version of Cheerwine Holiday Punch. This ale pours a light peach with a quick, fading one-finger white head. The aroma is wheat, cherry, and pineapple. The flavor is much like Cheerwine. There are cherry, pineapple, and wheat flavors with a mild sweetness similar to a sour ale. This has a light mouthfeel. Then, it has a sweet, fruity finish, like a fruity soda. The aftertaste is more fruity Cheerwine. This is not great, it comes to a C-. I feel this beer is trying to be three things at once, Cheerwine, Holiday Cheerwine, and a beer. It not doing a bad job, but it could be better. I bought this because it sounds interesting. It is not terrible. I wouldn’t buy this a second time. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Hi-Wire Brewing Company Elated Winter IPA

It’s been a while since I’ve had a Hi-Wire Brewing beer. This seasonal beer (September through December) is Elated Winter IPA, which is 6.2% ABV. This IPA has Michigan Chinook and Idaho 7 hops. This beer comes in sixteen-ounce six-packs, which is not seen at all. Usually, it’s sixteen-ounce four-packs. This IPA pours a copper with a one-and-a-half-finger white head that is steady to fade. The aroma is bitter, piney, and light caramel. The flavor is caramel, pine notes, bitter/hoppy, and light onion, and I got a bread flavor. This has a light to almost medium feeling in the mouth. It came with a nice piney caramel finish. This IPA had the right amount of bitterness. I think Elated Winter IPA is a B+. It has all the right winter IPA flavors that aren’t too bold and in your face. I wouldn’t pass on Elated Winter IPA. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
