Westbrook Brewing Co. Graveyard Shift DDH India Pale Ale

Graveyard Shift DDH (Double Dry Hopped) India Pale Ale is another from my birthday mixed-six pack from my neighbor. This IPA is made by Westbrook Brewing Co., in Mt. Pleasent, South Carolina. This is from one of my favorite breweries. This beer is 7% and has Citra and Citra Incognito hops. Incognito hops are man-made hop concentrate. This is like fruit juice with concentrate which is more flavor versus fresh fruit which may not be as flavorful. This is my first time seeing, hearing about, and trying this incognito hop. This beer pours a cloudy yellow with a one-finger white head. The aroma is citrusy, and bitter, with light earthy notes. It smells like and not like an IPA. I don’t know how that is possible. The flavor is creamy, bitter, citrusy orange, and earth. It has a little orange creamsicle taste to it but not fully. The mouthfeel is medium. Then it has a bitter creamy orange finish that will lead you into an aftertaste of bitter orange that goes quickly. This was a deliciously delightful IPA. I can solidly give Graveyard Shift an A+. If you like orangey IPAs then I highly recommend Graveyard Shift from Westbrook Brewing Co. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Suffolk Punch Brewing A Patchwork Orange Fruited Pale Ale

A Patchwork Orange from Suffolk Punch Brewing was gifted to me for my birthday over the weekend from a good neighbor along with five other different beers. This is a fruited pale ale that is 5.7% ABV. It just has Mosaic hops and fresh oranges in it. Not a big ingredients list here. This pale ale pours a bright cloudy orange with a one-finger white head. This beer does have particulate floating in it, I think that’s probably bits of orange. The aroma is slightly hoppy orange bitterness. The flavor is citrusy orange sweetness, bitterness, watery, and smooth. This has more of a real orange taste rather than a more citrus candy orange. This has a nice medium mouthfeel. This pale ale then finishes with a smooth bitter orange and that orange carries over to a light linger in the aftertaste. This was good but a little on the plane side. I can say that I recommend it nor would I tell you not to drink this. I don’t think it’s bad. The fresh orange flavor is good and interesting. I give this a solid C. A C for citrus I guess you could say! Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Trappist Rocheford 10

Trappist Rocheford 1o from Rocheford, Belgium, imported by Merchant DuVin of Washington State is a Quad or Quadruple ale. This beer is 11.2% ABV. I think this is the strongest beer in the Rocheford lineup. This Ale pours a deep brown/chestnut with a three-finger beige slow-fading head. The aroma is sweet, licorice, light chocolate, and rich. The flavor is sweet, smooth rich, licorice, and slightly boozy/alcohol. The booziness is masked somewhat by this beer’s richness. This has a fuller mouthfeel. Then it has a sweet, smooth, and rich finish. The aftertaste is very light chocolate, but it does end with a smoothness. This is one of the best Belgian Quads. Trappist Rocheford is an A+ and one you should not miss out on. PLease stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Town Brewing Company One In A Melon

It’s summer time alright. The weather is hot and sweaty. Well Town Brewing Company in Charlotte, North Carolina has One In A Melon. This is a Watermelon Kölsch beer. It is only 4.9% ABV. Watermelon is always a good Sumer treat to beat the heat. The Kölsch style originated in Colone, Germany, and requires fermenting with ale yeast and finishing at cold temperatures. This is like an Ale crossed with a Lager. This Kölsch pours a light pink with a light pink two-finger head. It’s not a really spectacular head, but it’s there. The aroma is fruity with watermelon, dryness, and clean. The flavor is sweet melon, with dry notes, and it has a light body. This is overall light and so is the mouthfeel. This has a dry watermelon finish with a light linger of a watermelon aftertaste. This beer has light flavors, but it is refreshing to drink. I give One In A Melon a C+. I almost went higher, but the watermelon was a bit too light. It is something I’d recommend. But don’t rush to have One In A Melon. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Boulevard Brewing Co. Dank 7 Belgian-Style IPA

Boulevard Brewing Co., in Kansas City, Missouri makes Dank 7 Belgian-Style IPA has been brewing since 1988, but in 2013, Belgian brewer Duvel Moortgat Brewery purchased Boulevard. This brewery is the 12th largest brewery in the United States. This beer is 7%ABV and has seven different hops. The name of this beer is a take on Tank 7 Saison. Bravo, Chinook, Columbus, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Topaz are the seven hops. This IPA pours yellow with a two-finger white head that fades steadily. The aroma is light on the bitterness, hoppy, and breaded. The bitterness is more present in the taste with hoppy bread notes and has a light body. This has a lighter on the mouthfeel. Then it finishes with a bitter hop note. The aftertaste is where the bitterness grows a bit before falling off. This is a good beer. It was not as Belgian-IPA as I was expecting. I give Dak 7 Belgian-style IPA a B. Yes, I would recommend Dank 7. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Weihenstephaner & St. Bernardus Braupakt Blonde Ale

This beer Braupakt (Brewing Pact) is a Blonde Ale, a collaboration between Weihenstephaner of Freising, Germany & St. Barnardus of Watou, Belgium. This beer is 6.5% ABV. This beer was first produced in 2018 with Weihenstephaner and Sierra Nevada. Now six years later we have the sequel. The two breweries, St. Bernardus and Weihenstephaner have monks as the faces of their beers. The idea behind this unique collaboration was to brew a filtered, strong, top-fermented beer. This beer has Belgian hops from St. Bernardus, yeast, and malt from Weihenstephaner. That sounds like a great combination. This blonde ale pours yellow with a thick two-finger creamy white head. The aroma is spicy, clean, dry, and light banana You really smell the Weihenstephaner yeast. The flavor is clean, dry, banana, and spiced. The banana flavor is a bit more pungent than the rest. This has a medium mouthfeel. The finish is semi-sweet with banana and light hops. The aftertaste is more of the banana with a dryness. This is a fantastic beer. This Braupakt is an A+. Don’t miss this one, either in six-packs or singles. It is delicious. The German yeast and malts go well with the Belgian hops They combine into a great collaborative blonde ale. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

This Lager has water, organic malted barley, yeast, organic hops, and carbon dioxide. This lager pours a clean gold with a three-finger bright white head. The head sticks around for a good while. The flavor is juicy tropical fruits (mango, peach, pineapple, and a bit of orange), smooth, and bitter. This has a medium mouthfeel. The finish is tropical, juicy, and bitter.
