Trillium Brewing Mosaic Cutting Tiles

Mosaic Cutting Tiles from Trillium Brewing in Boston, Masachusetts is a 8.5% ABV double IPA with raw Wildflower Honey, Mosaic hops, Pilsner, White Wheat, Flaked Wheat, Dextrine, and C-15 malts. This IPA is dry-hopped. This beer pours yellow with a two-finger white head The aroma is grapefruit, bitter, light grass, and pine. The flavor is fruity (peach, grapefruit, and soft nectarine), hoppy, and bitter. The honey flavor is very light but its barely there. This has a fuller mouthfeel. Then it finishes with a semi-sweet andf bitter/hop flavor. The aftertaste is fruity then fades into a bitterness. This is a very good single hop double IPA, but I did not get uch raw wildflower honey. This IPA gets an A-. I think the honey is overshadowed buy the fruity flavors of the Mosaic hops. But it is otherwise a good double IPA that I recommend drinking. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly Cheers!

Maine Beer Company Wolfe’s Neck India Pale Ale

In Freeport, Maine Wolfe’s Neck is brewed by Maine Beer Company. This is a 6.5% IPA that is brewed with local malts from Maine Malt House, Mosaic, El Dorado, and Sabro hops. This IPA is named after the Wolfe’s Neck research farm. This IPA pours a slighly hazed yellow color with a one-finger slowe fading white head. The aroma is citru fruit, pine, and bitterness. The flavor is clean, citrusy, hoppy and smooth. You can really taste each flavor. This has a meduim mouthfeel. Then it comes to a bitter citrus fruit finish. The aftertaste is smooth but bitter, but not overly bitter. It has just the perfect amount of bitterness. This is a great beer that deserves an A+. It is good from the first sip to the last. I highly recommend Wolfe’s Neck. It is very flavorful and delicious. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

NoDa Brewing Company Hop Drop ‘N Roll India Pale Ale

Hop Drop ‘N Roll from NoDa Brewing Company is a 7.2% ABV 2014 World Beer Cup Gold IPA brewed withh Citra, Amarillo, and Chinook hop, (nodabrewing.com). This beer came from my local Harris Teeter grocery store. This IPA pours a light orange colo a thick one-finger very slow head. The aroma is of pine, fruit, malts, and bitterness. The flavor is oniony, piney, malty, bitter, fruity, and bittersweet, smooth notes. This has a medium mouthfeel. Then this IPA has a hoppy light fruity finish and a bitter, hoppy aftertaste that lingers for a bit. This is a core staple from NoDa Brewing and It’s an A. I think it is really worth trying because it not over done with lots of expermental hops and other things. It reminds me of IPAs for twenty years ago and that I love. It is just the right amount of bitterness to this beer. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibility! Cheers!

Sugar Creek Brewing Company The Big O Blood Orange IPA

Made localy in Charlotte, North Carolina by Sugar Creek Brewing, (https://sugarcreekbrewing.com) The Big O is a 7% ABV Blood Orange IPA. This IPA has California grown “Moro” blood oranges along with dry-hopping, specialty toasted malts, Citra and Mosaic hops. You can find this beer where ever beer is sold in the Charlotte area (www.totalwine.com). This IPA pours orange with a two-finger white head. The aroma is big on the orange. It is almost like bitter orange candy. The flavor is orange, fruity, grapefruits, bitterness with small sweet notes. This has a medium mouthfeel. Then it has a bitter orange finish that lingers in the aftertaste with a good amout of bittering notes. This bee is on the heavier flavored side of things. So it has a nice pungent bitter orange like its name. I give The Big O an A-. It does have a little more boozieness on this but that is not so bad. That is a common ABV with craft IPAs. I would recommend this beer if you love bitter oranges. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Sierra Nevada Hop Tropical IPA

Hop Tropical IPA from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. (https://sierranevada.com) is alimited-released IPA with Two-row pale malts, Motueka, and Riwaka hops, and ale yeast. It comes in at 6.5% ABV, and pours gold with a two-finger thick pillowy white head that stays around for a bit. The aroma is of tropical fruits and bitterness. I found som mango, pineapple, and passion fruit. The flavor is hoppy, tropical, and pineapple with a light mouthfeel. Then this IPA finishes with tropical fruits and hoppy notes. The aftertaste is pineapple bitterness. That lingers for a while. This is a great beer and it doesn’t feel as strong as 6.5% ABV. This is a a beer that I would recommend you have. I give it a A+. It is tropcial bitter bliss in a can. You can find this at Total Wine (totalwine.com). Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly!

Peticolas Brewing Company Thrilla in Brazilla India Pale Ale

A week ago, I was in Dallas, Texas, having lunch at Ten50 BBQ (https://www.ten50bbq.com), which is actually in Richardson, TX. With my BBQ assortment, I had Thrilla in Brazilla, a 7.5% ABV IPA. This is a limited beer produced by Peticolas Brewing Company (www.peticolasbrewing.com/) in Dallas. This American IPA was originally for the 2014 World Cup and was released on June 12th, the first day of match one, Brazil versus Croatia. Then it was re-released for the 2015 Gold Cup and the 2016 Copa America. The food at Ten50 BBQ is good traditional Texas BBQ. The food is served cafeteria style. This IPA pours orange with a two-finger tight white head. The aroma is fruity with some grapefruit and orange. There is bitterness on the nose. The flavor is bitter, fruity, and hoppy. This IPA has a medium feel in the mouth. The finish is bitter and fruity, then there is a hoppy aftertaste with faded semi-sweet fruitiness. This is average, I’d say this is a C. The beer gets more bitter and hoppy as it warms, but that is true with most IPAs. This is neither bad nor really good. It’s an average drinkable IPA. I wouldn’t say ”stay away from this”, but if you have it, it’s not bad to drink. This IPA is not in production at this time. So finding this in the wild might be hard. You can contact the Peticolas Brewing Company. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Far Yeast Brewing Hop Frontier Juicy IPA

I still have beers to review from Asia, and this one is Far Yeast Brewing Hop Frontier Juicy IPA. It is 6.3% ABV and comes from Kosuge, Yamanashi, Japan. I had this at the Punch Room at the Tokyo Giza Edition Hotel. This IPA pours gold with a two-finger white head. The aroma is crisp with citrus hop-forward bitterness. The flavor is mild, tropical, hoppy, and floral. This has a medium feel. The finish is mild bitter hops with a citrus flavor. The aftertaste is similar to the finish with bitter citrus. This is good, but I think it needs more body. I’d say Hop Frontier is just an A-… It lacks a bit of body to help the flavors to shine. I would, however, recommend this if you are in the neighborhood. It is worth drinking. Please stay safe be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Brewlander Lioness Session IPA

Lioness Session IPA from Singapore’s Brewlander, a craft brewery. This session IPA is in conjunction with the Singapore Edition hotel, which can be found in the hotel mini bar. This is one of many beers I will blog about throughout my journey through Asia over a month. This IPA is 4.3% ABV, which is low for a standard beer in the USA, even for a session IPA. That is just another way of calling a lower-than-standard ABV beer. A session is spent drinking beer at home or in a bar/pub. Lionless pours a light gold color with a light orange hue and a one-finger white head The aroma is light hoppy and somewhat sweet. The flavor is hoppy with light bitterness and light sweetness, with a smooth body. This has a lighter mouthfeel. The finish has a light, hoppy flavor. The finish is smooth. This is not a bad beer, and it goes down easy, but I wouldn’t say this beer is good. It is a C+. It has a light funkiness overall, but not in a bad way. I would recommend it, but then again, it wouldn’t be a beer I would look for. As for Brewlander, I would try some of their other beers. You really can judge a brewery on just one beer. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer Co. & Trillium Brewing Some Kind of Spectacle Unbeknownst to You West Coast IPA

From Bruail Beer Co. Some Kind of Spectacle Unbeknownst to You is a collaboration with Trillium Brewing and is a 6.8% ABV West Coast IPA double dry hopped with Mosaic Hyperboost, Mosiac T90, Simcoe, and Zumo hops. This beer pours yellow with a tow finger-white head. It has a bitter, hoppy, piney, and sweet aroma. The flavor resembles the hoppy, bitter, pine, and sweet smell. This has a medium and somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Then, it has a sweet pine and bitter finish that leads to a hoppy aftertaste. Burial Beer has done it again, this is good because the last beer I reviewed from them was not so good. This one was not overly bitter and hoppy, with good flavors. This IPA is an A+. I highly recommend this IPA. So go try it and other Burial Beers. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Dogfish Head Brewery 60 Minute IPA

As long as I have been writing and blogging about beer, I have never had a Dogfish Head beer. The Dogfish Head Brewery has been in operation since 1994, but as of 2019, it has been part of the Boston Beer Company. They are known for Samual Adams. This beer is 60 Minute IPA, which is 6% ABV. This IPA is hopped for 6o minutes, and they add 60 hop additions constantly. This IPA pours a golden amber/copper color with a one-finger white head. The head fades at a semi-quick pace. The aroma is bitter and malty, with light sweetness. The flavor is bitter/hoppy, malty, sweet, and smooth. This IPA has a semi-light feeling in the mouth. This beer finishes smooth with some bitter hop flavors. The aftertaste is bitter but less bitter than its initial flavor. There is not much aftertaste. This is more of a classic IPA. How IPAs were twenty-four to twenty-five years ago. I like that type of IPA because it differs from all the New England, West Coast, and Hazy IPAs that have become so popular. I still like those kinds of IPAs. But it’s nice to have something different. This is a good IPA that doesn’t overpower your taste buds. This IPA is a B+. I can’t believe it has been this long, and I have not had Dogfish Head Brewery 60 Minute IPA. I recommend it! Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! cheers!
