Dogfish Head Craft Brewery 60 Minute IPA

IMG_1746

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, 60 Minute IPA, 6% ABV with 60 IBUs (International Bittering Units) from Milton, Delaware is their east coast IPA continually hopped with a slew of northwest hops throughout the entire boil acourding to their can. 60 Minute IPA was originally released back in 2003, seventeen years ago & uses a foot-ball-machine-turned-continual-hopper and their addition of equal increments throughout the entire boil. 60 Minute IPA is a classic flagship Dogfish Head beer and can be found pretty much anywhere beer is served and/or sold. 60 Minute IPA pours a bit of a deep yellow near golden copper color with a barely two finger quicky fading white head that gives off a slightly piney citrus note with a bitterness to it that pretty much smells like a typical IPA. The taste is bitter at first with a citrus fruit note that follows with a hoppy slightly piney hoppy note hitting the back of the tongue and carrying into the finish with a little more citrus that has a bitter bite and a bitter citrusy aftertaste that does linger for a little while before fading into bitterness for just a second with a lighter mouthfeel. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, 60 Minute IPA is not bad but I found it to be just another IPA, and maybe that is what Dogfish Head is going for with it. But I give 60 Minute IPA a C+. It is and IPA that is, in my opinion, it’s the middle of the road and something that you can drink without having an assault on your taste buds, and I would just barely recommend it. It’s not a bad IPA, it’s just above average. Please stay safe and please enjoy responsibily! Cheers!

Catawba Brewing Company Hoppness Haze

13114DE2-383E-4C47-BC61-6F25AAA0DE02

Catawba Brewing Hoppness Haze IPA, 6.0% ABV is a hazy version of their Hoppness Monster IPA. Hoppness Haze is brew with Citrus and Zythos hops in Morganton North Carolina. Hopness Hazy IPA pours a hazy yellow with a one and quarter white quickly fading head that gives off a light juicy citrus aroma of nice orange and grapefruits, that carries into the taste with a light smooth citrus juice a low hoppy bitterness with a very faint grassy note that comes to a nice citrusy grassy finish with a light bitter fruit juice aftertaste that lingers for just long enjoy to notice and with a lighter mouthfeel. Catawba Brewing does brew nice tasty brews but this was just a little off from being average so Catawba Brewing Hoppness Haze  IPA get a C-. It just one of those beers that not really memorable but not really terrible. The flavors were all average on it, and overall Catawba Brewing Hoppness Haze IPA was near boring. I wouldn’t recommend it. Please stay safe at home and please enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer Rationality Shall Run Its Course India Pale Ale

IMG_1713

Burial Beer Rationality Shall Run Its Course, 7.5% ABV with 40 IBU (International Bittering Units) is brewed in Asheville North Carolina with Amarillo Cryo, Cashmere, Citra Cryo, El Dorado, Galaxy, Mosaic, Riwaka, Simcoe hops and with Lactose. This is a one-off beer that you probably will not see again once it all gone. Rationality Shall Run Its Course purchased from Pop The Top Craft Beer Shop here in Charlotte, North Carolina pours a bright hazed yellow, orange juice color with a one and a quarter fluffy white slow fading head. Rationality Shall Run Its Course gives off a nice sweet juicy fruited aroma of some tropical pineapple, light mango, light orange, and grapefruit with some interesting grass note wafting in. Taste is somewhat similar to its own aroma, I found it to be juicy, fruity, I found some nice sweet pineapple, light mango, grapefruit, some orange with a nice lower bitter hoppy note that has a little grassy flavor to that I found hanging out on the rear of my tongue that had a strong finish with nice fruitiness, with yet a light sweetness and a light bittersweet fruit aftertaste with a very faint grassy note. Burial Beer Rationality Shall Run Its Course was a big beer with a lot of hop verities that are on the stronger side of the IPA spectrum and the aftertaste was a tad stronger than everything else giving Burial Beer Rationality Shall Run Its Course an A-, everything else about this IPA was great, but on a side note more that one is a little questionable, I might have gotten through a pint and a quarter or half but not so much as two pints, the flavor would by the end of said second pint maybe be to much on your tastebud, but not terrible. I do however recommend Burial Beer Rationality Shall Run Its Course. Please stay safe at home and please enjoy resposibly Cheers!

Sycamore Brewing Rainbow Dust India Pale Ale

IMG_1700

Brewed with six hop varietals from around the world and brewed in Charlotte, North Carolina Sycamore Brewing Rainbow Dust India Pale Ale, 7.1% ABV, which was gifted to me through a family members co-worker. Rainbow Dust pours an orange color, with sediment and a two-finger white head that fades and a steady pace that gives off a tropical fruit aroma, bits of pineapple, mango, and melons. This IPA smells inviting and when I took the first sip I found that tropical fruit some pineapple on the front of the tongue with mango on the middle with tiny bits of melon that grown on the back of the mouth with some nice average bitter hoppy notes that have nice bitter tropical finish and a hoppy slightly fruity aftertaste the hoppy notes slightly overtook the fruit flavors there, with a medium mouthfeel. I am usually not a fan of Sycamore Brewing, I find they’re beer to be just below average but Rainbow Dust India Pale Ale was not bad but I have a better tropical tasting IPA and I give this a C+. It has good tropical flavors but they are just right above average, nothing really to rant and rave about. I would have this again I mean it’s just a nice average example of a tropical IPA nothing more. Please stay safe at home and please enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

On today’s shelves, you find many different IPA, (India Pale Ale) styles. But if there becomes more and more different style then a regular IPA might be somewhat forgotten. But not here, we have Full Sail Brewery IPA, 6.0% ABV from Hood River Oregon. This is just a simple IPA, and it’s sometimes good to go back to an original. This IPA pours a light orange color with a pillowy white head that looks like vanilla ice cream. The head does stay for a little while, and some light coming through the glass. I didn’t find a whole lot of carbonation on this, but I did see nice lacing though out. The aroma on this Full Sail IPA is a big soapy lemon and citrus fruit with a hint of a grassy note. This really smells like a good typical IPA. The taste on Full Sail IPA is lemony slightly citrusy and has a faint bitter hop dryness. The mouthfeel is medium with a good amount of crispness. This IPA kind of coats your tongue a little. The finish is good crisp with a nice bitter lemon flavor that stays in your mouth. The after taste really stays around in your mouth with a nice bitter hop. This is receiving a B+ from me. A great IPA, but could have some other citrus fruits, but still good with a lemon flavor. I DO recommend this IPA, any hoppy beer lover or IPA lover would like this, even a non-IPA/Hop drinker would like this. Give this a try please! I highly Full Sail Brewery IPA. recommend Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Birdsong Brewing Company Paradise City Session IPA

IMG_1669.jpeg

Not too long ago I received Birdsong Brewing Company Paradise City Session IPA 4.8% ABV with 45 IBUs, (International Bittering Units) from a coworker of my father. Paradise City is brewed here locally in Charlotte, North Carolina, and brewed with Two-row, Caramel 40L, Red Wheat, Oats, Carapils malts, Chinook hops, Cascade, Amarillo, and Idaho 7 hops. Paradise City pours a light orange color with a one-finger steady fading white head that exudes a litter bitter citrus hop aroma of light grapefruit and some orange to your sense of smell that leads you into a taste that is somewhat similar to the aroma with a slight bitter grass grapefruit and orange flavor with bites of hop flavor rushing in and out until the finish of bitter juicy citrus fruit that contiues at a faded capacity into the slightly bitter aftertaste with a light somewhat crisp mouthfeel. Birdsong Brewing Company Paradise City Session IPA is not bad but not the best, I believe it above average getting a C+ from me. Yes, I do think Paradise City is quite sessionable, you could crush a few of these, I know that I would. The overall flavor isn’t entirely memorable but I do vaguely remember how it tastes. Try Birdsong Brewing Company Paradise City Session IPA for yourself it’s not bad. Please stay safe at home and please enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Blowing Rock Brewing Co. Cloud Rise Hazy IPA

IMG_1647.jpeg

Blowing Rock Brewing Company Cloud Rise Hazy IPA, 7.2% ABV from Hickory North Carolina was gifted to me through my father’s business associate. Cloud Rise is brewed Cashmere, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops. Cloud Rise pours light hazy orange with a three-finger sticky white pillowy, cloud-like head that gives off hoppy citrusy tropical fruit notes of orange and freshly crushed pineapple that gives you a taste of juicy orange and fresh pineapple with a nice bitterness on the middle of the mouth with a crisp flavor of grapefruit that comes together for a fruity juicy finish and aftertaste that of fresh hops with nice orange and light grapefruit pineapple with a medium mouthfeel. Blowing Rock Brewing Co. Cloud Rise Hazy IPA is a refreshingly fruity hazy IPA that gets a B+ here. I think that the 7.2% ABV and the bitter hoppy notes do tend to become too much after three of these and that is the only thing I found to be negative about Cloud Rise, the beer is good with nice flavors and you should try Cloud Rise for yourself! Cheers! Please stay safe at home and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer Co. The Tranquility Amid Terror

2A36EA0B-0E08-43A7-ADF2-13400478005E.jpeg

purchased a crowler of Burial Beer Co. The Tranquility Amid Terror, 7.2% ABV a New England style IPA from Pop The Top Craft Beer Shop here in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Tranquility Amid Terror poured a deep cloudy/hazy yellow with a tich two finger white head that sticks around awhile leaving thick ropey lacing after each sip. The Tranquility Amid Terror give off a piney citrusy aroma with a tart bitterness wafting into your seance of smell that draws you to take a sip that brings forth a flavor of bitter creamy citrus orange and light grapefruit notes with a sweet yet tartness that turns into a faint vanilla note that then quickly becomes bitter with a nice tartness toward the end, then culminates into a creamy tart bitter finish with a juicy citrusy aftertaste with a medium, almost full mouthfeel. Burial Beer Co. The Tranquility Amid Terror is a good beer, a B+ beer, falls just a bit in my opinion with that tartness and bitterness together, I think they don’t meld well together but everything else flavor-wise with Burial Beer Co. The Tranquility Amid Terror is great and s beer worth trying. Please stay safe at home and please enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Westbrook Brewing Co. Rinse/Repeat Ekuanot Azacca El Dorado India Pale Ale

IMG_1602.jpeg

Westbrook Brewing Co. Rinse/Repeat Ekuanot Azacca El Dorado India Pale Ale, 7% ABV brewed in Mt. Pleasent South Carolina with yes you guessed it, Ekuanot, Azacca, and El Dorado dry hops with Cascade, and CTZ wet hops, Conan Yeast, with Carapils, Oat, Pale, and wheat malts. Ekuanot Azacca El Dorado pours a bight hazy yellow color with a three-finger billowing slow white head giving off tropical fruits aromas of fresh mango, pineapple, tangerine, and little orange peel that sends you into a fresh tropical fruit taste that is much like the beers aroma with nice ripe tropical pineapple, mango, and some hoppy orange peel with nice bitter notes coming to a tropical bitter hoppy fruit finish and a tropic bitter aftertaste with a medium mouthfeel. Westbrook Brewing Co. Rinse/Repeat Ekuanot Azacca El Dorado is a good tropical IPA that is well-deserving of an A+. Nothing really bad with this delicious IPA that you should already have had. Please stay safe at home and please enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Throwback Thursday: Rogue Ales Yellow Snow IPA

Originally posted December 11th, 2016

There is an old saying “don’t eat the yellow snow”  someone at Rogue Ales in Newport Oregon made Yellow Snow IPA, 6.5% ABV with 82 IBUs. Yellow Snow IPA is brewed with CaraFoam, Melanoidin, 2-Row & Rogue Farms Dare & Risk Malts; Amarillo Hops; Free Range Coastal Water and Pacman Yeast. Yellow Snow pours a golden yellow color with a three-finger white head that leaves behind nice decent lacing that fades into chunky lacing. The aroma is hoppy with big earthy tones with slight pine essence. Yellow snow has a big IPA aroma to it. Taste is big with hoppy, fruity, earthy notes upfront with earthy bitterness in the back with slight juicy fruits. The mouthfeel is a full medium, this beer finishes with a bitterness that lingers just enough for you to really taste the bitterness. The aftertaste is hoppy and sticky with a bit of a fruity note. This is a well-brewed bitter IPA and Yellow Snow deserves a B. Solidly brewed and almost well balance but falls just half an inch short of being perfectly balanced. It just needs a little more malt’s to be perfect. I would recommend having Rogue Ales Yellow Snow IPA. Cheers Please enjoy responsibly!
