Double Barley Brewing Thrilla In Vanilla Imperial Porter, 8% ABV from Smithfield North Carolina. This porter is brewed with whole Bourbon Madagascar Vanilla beans, and homemade vanilla extract. This porter pours a black color with a two-finger tan head that doesn’t stay very long. The aroma is sweet with big vanilla and some slightly bitter notes. The taste has a big vanilla sweetness with some light caramel and some bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to an almost fullness. Thrilla In Vanilla finish with a light bittersweet flavor from the vanilla and lingers on into the aftertaste. This is just a big vanilla porter which isn’t bad. I would say Double Barley Brewing Thrilla In Vanilla Imperial Porter is a B+. After two of these beers, the vanilla flavor would become a bit much and you’d have a different beer or just stop drinking beer.
