Burial Beer Bolo Coconut Brown

It is dark beer time of the year, it’s getting closer. This is Bolo Coconut Brown Ale from Burial Beer. This Brown beer is 5.6% ABV with nine barley malts, oats, and brown sugar and finished with a hefty amount of coconut. The beer pours a dark brown color with a one-finger tan head. The aroma is sweet, coconut, and some malty chocolate. The flavor is malty, semi-chocolaty, sweet, coconut, and nutty, and it has a light body for a brown ale. This beer has a lighter mouthfeel for a beer of this style. Then, this brown ale finishes with a nutty, malty coconut. The aftertaste is malty coconut with hints of coca. This good beer is nice and light for a brown ale. I give this Bolo Coconut Brown Ale an A. I suggest you drink this beer. The coconut is not dominant, but you get a light sense of coconut. Rogue Ales Mom Beer Wheat India Pale Ale

Mom Beer from Rogue Ale in Newport, Oregon, a 6.3% ABV wheat IPA with Oregon Rose Hips. You rarely see a Wheat IPA, but this one pours a light orange with a one-finger white head. The aroma is floral, bitter, and light on wheat. This smells like a floral IPA. The flavor is like a normal IPA with bitter notes, and then you come across malt, floral, and wheat notes. This bee has a smoothness to it. The finish is floral and bitter. The aftertaste is smooth and bitter with a bit of a floral note. This Mom Beer is okay. The rose hips don’t add anything interesting here, but the wheat does, and it gets a C. It’s OK, average. I wouldn’t recommend this, and I would. Stone Brewing Enjoy By 10.31.24 Hazy IPA

This Hazy IPA, Enjoy By 10.31.24, is part of Stone Brewing’s Enjoy By series of IPAs. They put the expiration date right in the name of the beer. This beer is 9.4% ABV with a heavy helping of Citra, Mosaic, and Nelson Sauvin hop. I have never had a Stone Enjoy By beer. This is my first, but I’ve had my fair share of Stone beers. This beer pours a hazy orange with a one-finger white head. The aroma is tropical, citrusy orange, hoppy and bitter. The flavor is smooth, light-bodied, tropical, citrusy, and hoppy. This has a light to medium mouthfeel. Then, this beer comes to a bitter citrus finish. The aftertaste is bitter citrus as well, but it does end smooth. I didn’t find this IPA to feel like it was 9.4% ABV. I give Stone Enjoy By 10.31.24 a B. Solid hazy IPA with good fruity flavor without being overly strong and aggressive. La Chouffe Houblon

Houblon from La Chouffe, owned by Duvel Moortgat is a Belgian IPA at 9% ABV and has Tomahawk, Saaz, and Amarillo hops. This is the number-one-rated beer in this category. This beer pours a bright yellow with a three-finger white head. The aroma is bright, fruity, hoppy, and strong (alcoholic). It smells wonderful this beer. The flavor is fruity, strong, hoppy, and a bit sweet. This beer has a lighter feel in the mouth. The finish is fruity, strong (alcoholic) and hoppy. The aftertaste is light and fruity with hoppy notes. This beer is somehow light-bodied and full of flavor at the same time. This Houblon is an A+. This is one beer not to miss. Maine Beer Company Thank 2024 India Pale Ale

In Freeport, Maine the Maine Beer Company makes Thank You India Pale Ale each year, this is Thank You 2024. This beer is 6.2% with Idaho 7, Strata, Cascade, El Dorado, Warrior hops and also Mapleton Gold (Maine Malt House), 2-Row Brewers, Light Munich (Blue Ox), Red Wheat (Blue Ox), Heritage-Crystal malts. Yes, this beer is brewed with a different recipe each year. This IPA pours orange with a slightly off-white three-finger head. The head is slow to fade out, and it has a citrus (orange & grapefruit), biscuity, bitter pine, and hop aroma. The taste is orange and grapefruit, with pine bitterness, biscuity, and light body as is the mouthfeel. This beer has a bitter pine and orange finish, and a bitter aftertaste. This beer is quite good, and I give this IPA a B. The light body holds it back slightly, but I recommend Thank You 2024. Next year I’ll look out for the 2025 recipe. The Bruery Desert Flora

Desert Flora is a Belgian-style Table Beer with hibiscus and Prickly Pear. This beer is from The Bruery in Placentia, California and has a 3.5% ABV. Table beer is usually a lower-alcohol beer that Belgian monks drink with a meal or for any occasion. This beer pours orange with a two-finger billowing head. The aroma is light, fruity, and floral. The flavor is light, citrusy, orange, and with hibiscus. Being a low abv beer, it is crisp, but the overall flavor is very light, as is the feel in the mouth. You really have to pay attention to find all the flavors. I do think this is kind of like a sour beer. This beer doesn’t have a strong finish but has a floral flavor. The aftertaste is floral, fruity, but light. This is not bad, I give this an A-. I find that low-alcohol beer to not have as strong flavors. This had slightly more than I though. 12st Amendment Brewery Find Your Fortune

I am assuming that by the fortune cookie on the can, this 21st Amendment Brewery beer, Find Your Fortune, is supposed to taste like a fortune cookie. Well, this beer from San Francisco, California, has sesame seeds, lactose, and vanilla. It is a 7.5% imperial golden toasted ale, according to the can. This ale pours a blonde/golden color with a one-and-a-half finger of quickly fading white head. The aroma is sweet with light vanilla, and some cookies. There is a sweetness too. But the other flavors aren’t as pronounced. There is light lactose and vanilla with faint cookie The sweetness is cloyingly sweet. This has a lighter mouthfeel. This beer finishes with a bad taste of sweetness and gone-off vanilla cookies. The aftertaste is like a bad cookie. I wouldn’t recommend this, and it’s a D-. It is just a bad kind of sweet and not much else. It does not feel or taste like an imperial-style beer. It feels not so strong in the alcohol department. Brooklyn Brewery Stonewall Inn IPA Session IA

The Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, NYC is a gay bar where the Stonewall riots took place in 1969 and it is now a registered US National historic landmark. The is a Stonewall Inn IPA, a session IPA from Brooklyn Brewery in Brooklyn, New York. This beer is 5% ABV. The Brooklyn Brewery partners with The Stonewall Gives Back Initiative. This is a year-round offering. This IPA pours a bright yellow with a big three-finger marshmallow head, that never seems to fade. The aroma is lemon, citrus, light/soft bitterness, and grapefruit. The flavor is also lemon, grapefruit, citrus peels, and light bitterness. This beer is light on the mouthfeel. The finish is citrus fruits and soft bitterness. Then follow an aftertaste of orange and grapefruit bitterness. This Stonewall Inn IPA is delicious and gets an A from me. The flavors are not too much or overpowering. It is something that you could drink a few of before it becomes too much on your palate. I highly recommend Stonewall Inn IPA. It’s a good drinking IPA. Olde Mecklenburg Brewery Bock Party Spring Bock

Bock Party from Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is a seasonal spring Bock beer you can still find during the summertime. The brewery probably produces a lot of this Bock beer. Bock Party is 6% ABV and uses noble Bavarian hops. This beer pours light orange with a one-finger white steady head. The aroma is sweet, malty, and fruity. The flavor is malty, sweet, bready, and smooth. This beer doesn’t feel or taste like it’s 6% ABV, it has a medium feel in the mouth. Then you come to a malty smooth yet sweet finish with a light malted aftertaste. I enjoy a delicious Bock beer, and Bock Party from Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is delicious. Well deserving of an A+. You don’t want to miss this Bock beer, I recommend it! It is well brewed for when the weather starts to warm and spring is near. Royal Bliss Brewing Co. Cali King West Coast IPA

I have been ‘exploring’ some of Royal Bliss Brewing Co. beer recently; this is the last of the four I bought a while ago. This is Cali King West Coast IPA. This IPA is 6.8% ABV from Denver, North Carolina (Lake Norman). Royal Bliss was Lake Norman’s best brewery last year and they are nominated again this year. So go to their website and vote for them. This IPA pours yellow with a two-finger somewhat steady fading white head. The aroma is piney, and bitter, with light fruit. The flavor is piney, bitter, hoppy, clean, and smooth. This has a coating mouthfeel. Then this IPA finishes with with bitter pine. This has a. pleasant bitter aftertaste that lingers right until you take another sip. This is a good example of a delicious West Coast IPA. Cali King gets an A. I don’t think Cali King should be missed. I really love Royal Bliss Brewing Co. Their beer is good.
