Heist Brewery Dollar Dollar Bill Y’all Dreamsicle-Inspired India pale ale

This beer, Dollar Dollar Bill Y’all, is a lyric in a Wu-Tang Clan rap song titled C.R.E.A.M. This beer is a dreamsicle-inspired IPA from Heist Brewery here in Charlotte, North Carolina. This beer comes in a 7% ABV. This beer has tangerine, orange, toasted marshmallow, and vanilla. This beer pours a bright yellow with floating particulate/ingredients and a two-and-a-half finger cream marshmallow white head. The aroma is sweet and creamy. There is vanilla, orange, tangerine, and a little marshmallow on the nose. The taste is creamy with sweet vanilla, orange/tangerine citrusy goodness. There was also a toasted marshmallow. The mouthfeel is medium feel and creamy. This beer does taste like an orange creamsicle. Then this beer has a nice creamy sweet fruity vanilla finish. Then comes an aftertaste like biting into a delicious orange vanilla popsicle. That aftertaste lingers nicely on the tongue. This IPA was fabulously delicious. I give this an A+. I highly recommend it. It was as advertised on the side of the can. All the flavors came together just perfectly for a great beer. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Hi-Wire Brewing hi-pitched mosaic IPA

This beer, hi-pitched mosaic IPA is dry-hopped with Mosaic & Centennial hops. This IPA is from Hi-wire Brewing in Asheville, North Carolina. This beer is 6.7% ABV. Hi-pitched pours a copper color with a three-finger white head. The aroma is floral, hoppy, citrus fruits, and bitter. The beers flavor is bitter, orange citrus, floral, and hoppy. The mouthfeel is medium and nothing special. Then this beer finish with a bitter flavor that comes as a surprise. Then you come to the bitter citrusy aftertaste. This hi-pitch is not that great. I’d give this a D. The citrusy flavor is not good, it is almost mild at best. The bitterness feels like it is an off-flavor. It’s not a great floral flavor. This beer is more like a weed. I did finish this beer without wanting to pour it out. So, no I wouldn’t recommend this beer. I would not have it again. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers

Stillwater Artisanal Filson Gold Rush Rustic IPA

This beer, Filson Gold Rush Rustic IPA, is made by Stillwater Artisanal in conjunction with the one-hundred twenty-fifth anniversary of Filson outdoor clothing. This beer is 6.5% ABV from Grand Mound, Washington. This beer was given to me by Backbone Media. There is another Stillwater/Filson beer. This IPA pours a yellow color with a fluffy three-and-a-half-finger white head. It dissipated slowly, leaving behind thick lacing. The aroma is like a traditional IPA; grassy, hoppy, bitter, and citrus fruits. The taste is dank, grassy, bitter, hoppy, and citrus fruit (oranges). The mouthfeel is juicy and medium. Then it comes to a nice pine bitter finish that is lithely citrusy. The aftertaste is bitter citrus and grassy but lingers just enough to know that it’s there. This beer is how IPA was twenty-two years ago, before the explosion of west-coast IPAs, New England, and all the other sub-styles of an IPA. It’s just an IPA, a good IPA. I’d give this an A+. It is refreshing to go back to the roots or the beginning of IPA. The whole style/sub-style of IPAs has become too much, and I still like all IPA. I am getting tired of every beer out in stores being an IPA. This IPA has a classic IPA flavor and taste. I highly recommend this. It’s fantastic, and it will keep you wanting more. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Burial Beer A Desolate Divide on the Eastward Metamorphosis India pale ale

This beer from Burial Beer in Asheville, North Carolina, has quite a long name. A Desolate Divide on the Westward Metamorphosis India pale ale. This IPA is 6.5% ABV. This IPA is a collaboration with bike packing.com. It has Cryo, and Incognito hops in the whirlpool. Then it’s double dry hopped with Cashmere, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops. Then a finishing dose of Cryo hops. It also used Burial Heavy Resin treatment. This beer is a one-off and will not be around again. This IPA pours a bright hazy yellow color with a three-finger bright, thick white head. The aroma is piney, juicy, citrus, and hoppy.

The taste is similar to the aroma. There is a citrusy, juicy, piney, and hoppy flavor. The piney notes stick around and are bolder than the other flavors. The mouthfeel is medium to almost full. Then this long-named IPA finishes with a piney bitter fruit flavor. Then you get a piney aftertaste that fades into a hoppy, juicy note that lingers just enough to enjoy. This IPA has a lot going on. This IPA has lots of bold flavors here. I give this IPA an A. Burial always does a great job with their beers, and this is true to that. The piney fruit flavor is just perfect, as is the amount of bitterness. I recommend this or any Burial Beer offerings. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

terrapin Beer Company Carolina Krunkles Peach Tea IPA

This ale is from another local Harris Teeter grocery store’s build-your-own six-pack. This beer is Carolina Krunkles Peach Tea IPA from Terrapin Beer Company. This beer hails from Athens, Georgia. It comes in at 5.2% ABV This beer is part of the Krunkles series. This ale pours a rich orange color with a three-and-a-half finger off-white head. The aroma is peachy, sweet, and a little hoppy. Theflavor is peach, bitter, sweet, and watery. There is a faint black tea flavor too. The mouthfeel is medium. Then this IPA finishes with a bittersweet peach flavor. Then you get a hoppy aftertaste of peach and black tea. This beer sounded like an appealing beer, and it was. But It’s okay. I give this Carolina Krunkles Peach Tea IPA a B-. The tea notes/flavor clashes with the peach flavor, but not enough to ruin this beer. The bitterness is low overall, and it has good peach flavors. I enjoyed this and would have this again, but I would not rush back for one. I do also recommend it. It is a refreshing beer. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Legion Brewing Co. Blood Orange Juicy Jay East Coast India Pale Ale

Coming from Legion Brewing Co. in Charlotte, North Carolina. Blood Orange Juicy Jay East Coast India Pale Ale. This Juicy Jay is 6.3% ABV. This Juicy Jay is another variation of Legion’s Juicy Jay. This IPA pours a light yellow color with a decent two-finger white head. It fades steadily and leaves behind little lacing. The aroma is fruity (pineapple, blood orange) and bitter. The flavor is bitter, hoppy, light blood orange, and some pineapple. It is hoppy as well. Then this IPA finishes with bitter fruits. Then you get an aftertaste of bitter, hoppy light fruit flavor that doesn’t linger. This IPA is not terrible. But the blood orange is a little light. I would’ve liked a little more blood-orange flavor. I would say this beer is a B-. The original Juicy Jay is a little better. But I would,d say that you shouldn’t try it. It is worth a try. Overall I would say this Variety of Juicy Jay is different, and that’s not bad. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

The aroma is sweet (from the oats used), hoppy, and orange. The flavor is creamy hoppy, bitter, piney, and orange citrus fruit notes. The mouthfeel is full. Then this IPA finishes hoppy, bitter, and fruity with a little faded sweetness. The aftertaste is a creamy, bitter, citrus fruit flavor that slowly fades. This beer is a good beer, and it’s been a while since I’ve had an oat IPA. I would give End of Plagues India Pale Ale an A-. It just needs a little more bitter notes to make is spectacular and delicious. But I still think this IPA is a good beer that you should be drinking this as well as all other Burial Beers. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Bell’s Brewery Official Hazy IPA

I have seen Official Hazy IPA, 6.4%, around for a while now. I haven’t decided to buy a package of it until now. This beer is a New England hazy IPA from Bell’s Brewery in Comstock, Michigan. It is a dry-hopped combination of Mosaic, Citrus, Azacca, Amarillo, and El Dorado hops. This hazy IPA pours a golden yellow with a two-finger white head. There is good retention on the head. The aroma is of citrus fruit, tropical fruit, and bitter notes. The taste is also of citrus fruits and tropical fruits. You find mango, peach, pineapple, orange, and melon. There is a nice bitter note on the back of the tongue. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side. Then this IPA finishes with tropical citrus fruit and bitter flavor. Then comes an aftertaste of bitterness with hints of fruits. This beer is good. This beer got better and better the more I drank it. I give this an A. It has all the right flavors and has a nice balance with good drinkability. I recommend you have this. It will not disappoint. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

The taste is also tropical, lemon peel, bitter, and dank. The mouthfeel is medium. Then this IPA finishes with a bitter fruit hop note. Then you get a fruited bitter aftertaste. This Stone IPA is an old-school west coast style IPA. It gets a B- from me. It’s a little too much at first, but then you get used to it being a bigger IPA. I recommend it, but there isn’t a need to rush out for it either. It’s solid, but there are better west coast style IPA. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

El Segundo Brewing Company Steve Austin’s Broken Skull IPA

This beer is Steve Austin’s Broken Skull IPA, 6.7% AVB, is a collaboration between WWE wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin and the El Segundo Brewing Company. These two also have a lager. I have only seen this beer in my area. The El Segundo Brewing Company is in California. This beer has Cascade, Citra, and Chinook hops in it. This IPA pours a yellow color with a three-finger thick white head. The aroma is bitter, and citrusy, with lite earthy notes. The flavor of this beer is not unlike the way it smells. There is an excellent bitter citrus fruit (orange and some grapefruit), and hoppy earth notes. Then mouth feel is medium. Then this beer comes to a smooth bitter finish and gives a bitter citrus aftertaste. This beer is delicious, and it is easy to drink. I give Steve Austin’s Broken Skull IPA from El Segundo Brewing Company an A+. It’s not trying so hard to be good and different. That is much needed these days with all the IPA trying to be so out there and overly interesting. That sometimes does make for a good IPA. I highly recommend this IPA, so find it and drink one, two, or four. Please be kind, stay safe, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
