Redhook Ale Brewery Winterhook Winter Ale

Yes, I know that winter is over, but I am trying to review all the past season’s beers. This beer is Winterhook Winter Ale from Redhook Ale Brewery in Seattle, Washington. This ale comes in at 8.2% ABV. Winterhook is a winter warmer that has been around for twenty-seven years. This beer pours a red/brown color with a one-and-a-half finger beige head. The aroma is sweet, slightly boozy, spicy, and malty. The flavor is bittersweet, malty, strong, and spicy. The mouthfeel is medium. Then it finishes with a bitter malt flavor. The beer has a bittersweet malt aftertaste that goes downhill. I didn’t like this beer from the finish though its aftertaste. I give Winterhook Winter Ale a D+. It tastes like the malts have stale. That clashes with the sweet flavors and comes out terrible tasting. I would not recommend This Redhook beer. Nothing in this beer seems to go together. I’m glad I only had one Winterhook. Please stay safe, be kind, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
