Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Hop Bullet Double IPA

IMG_5623

This is a new springtime beer from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Hop Bullet Double IPA, 8.0% ABV and 60 IBUs, this double IPA is brewed with loads of Magnum Hops a Lupulin Dust. Hop Bullet pours a golden yellow color with a two finger head with some good retention giving off bitter orange and big pineapple and west coast IPA aromas that pull you more pineapple taste with nice big bitterness, a bit of orange and some slight grapefruit, melon with a nice west coast hoppiness on the back that has a nice strong bitter fruited finish and a big bitter earthy aftertaste with a medium mouthfeel. This is good but they can do a little better than this, Torpedo is a little better than this, but this has a touch more fruit flavor to this. Overall not a bad double IPA, it gets a B-. As Hop Bullet warms the bitterness becomes evermore present and strong and the fruity flavors are toned down a bit. I do recommend Hop Bullet Double IPA, it good. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Foothill Brewing Craft Happiness IPA Project Cherish IPA

The last of Foothills Brewing Craft Happiness IPA Project, Cherish IPA 8.5% ABV with 88 IBUs, don’t know if Foothills will do this again for 2018 or not but stay tuned. Cherish IPA is a double IPA brewed with Citra hops and pours an orange color with a slight yellow hue to it with a three finger slow fading head that leaves behind great thick lacing and gives a citrus fruit aroma of oranges and grapefruit with a slight earthy note that smells slightly bitter and hoppy which leads you to the big citrus fruit flavors of orange and grapefruit with nice amounts ob hoppy bitter earthy pine notes that are quite refreshing with a nice orange and grapefruit finish that is pleasantly bitter with a slightly bitter fruit aftertaste with a lighter mouth feel. Whenever I buy an IPA like this from Foothills I always have a feeling that it’s going to be really good and this one did not disappoint at all, and it deserves an A+ and is a beer that I highly recommend and would have again. It is so well balanced and so well brewed. It is just fantastic! Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Southern Tier Brewing Company 2XTaniger Double India Pale Ale

IMG_5462

There are only a few Southern Tier Brewing Co. beers that I do actually like. 2XTangier Double India Pale Ale, 8.1% ABV is only of a few. This is double IPA is the double version of Tangier and is brewed Tangerine peels and puree. 2XTangie is a limited beer and only a smaller number where were produced. 2XTangie pours a deep orange color with a two and a third white head with a slight haze to the beer, giving off sweet citrus tangerine notes with a bit of an earthy note that gives you a sweet citrusy tangerine peel flavor with some earthy bitterness that finishes smooth with a slight hop bitterness and a citrusy aftertaste all with a medium mouthfeel. Southern Tier Brewing Co. 2XTangier Double India Pale Ale is a B, I need just a touch more of the tangerine flavor to really makes this a great IPA, but 2XTangier Double India Pale Ale isn’t bad at all and is one I would have again but too many, like most stronger IPAs get to be too much on ones taste buds, and I do recommend this 2XTangier Double India Pale Ale. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

New Holland Brewing Hoptronix Double India Pale Ale

IMG_5354

I have really had much from New Holland Brewery in New Holland Michigan. I know that they have good beer from what I hear. Well this New Holland Brewing Hoptronix Double India Pale Ale. 9.0% ABV with 70n IBUs came to be from another of my recent Brewpublik deliveries. Hoptronix pours a bright hazy orange color with a one finger white head that quickly fades away with no traces of it behind giving you big hoppy earthy notes with some bitter orange and slight grapefruit. You can really smell that this is a double IPA. Taste has a big bitter hoppy note up front that really hits your tongue then you get some earthy bitter orange and grapefruit in the middle and somewhat sweet notes on the end that all finish with a bitterness and some slight bitter earthy fruit and has a little bitter hopped aftertaste that has a faint grapefruit notes they with a more full mouthfeel. You know that I am not a huge fan of double IPA’s, there are just two or maybe three that I like, but this was not bad once you get past the big bitter wallop upfront it’s not so bad, and I say New Holland Brewing Hoptronix Double India Pale Ale is a B-. But this isn’t one that I would have more than one of. I think that the second would overwhelm your taste buds. But one is good. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!
