Perennial Artisan Ales Southside Blonde

This dry-hopped Belgian-style Blonde Ale from Perennial Artisan Ale is 5% ABV and the first beer since returning from Africa. This beer is from St. Louis, Missouri. I don’t think I’ve had a Perennial beer before. This beer may be the first. This beer pours yellow with a two-finger white head that fades into wispy lacing. The aroma is floral, dry, clean, and a little lemony. The flavor is also floral, a little lemony, dry, and clean. This beer has a medium body mouthfeel. This ale finishes with a lemony, clean, and dry flavor. The aftertaste is dry, with not much lemon flavor. That lemon has faded and is nearly gone. Southside Blonde doesn’t scream Belgian-style by way of taste. But it is not too bad, and that gives it a B-. I would say you should try it. It is overall light flavored and good, but doesn’t make me think of other, better Belgian beers. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Huyghe Brewery Deliria

Coming from Brewery Huyghe in Melle, Belgium Deliria is a blonde ale brewed by women. This beer benefits the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. This beer is 8.5% ABV in a pink can. This beer pours a bright yellow with a green tint and a finger white head. The aroma is light sweet, and somewhat strong. The aroma overall is not much. The flavor is light, sweet, smooth-ish, and dry with a very light bitter note. This pink canned beer has a light feeling in the mouth. Then this beer comes to a light semi-sweet and dry finish. The aftertaste is a light, sweet, metallic flavor that does not linger long. Deliria is, overall, a lighter version of delirium and is not as good. I think Deliria is a D+. it starts out okay then goes downhill a bit. I love the idea behind it. I will just go for Delirium instead. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Weihenstephaner & St. Bernardus Braupakt Blonde Ale

This beer Braupakt (Brewing Pact) is a Blonde Ale, a collaboration between Weihenstephaner of Freising, Germany & St. Barnardus of Watou, Belgium. This beer is 6.5% ABV. This beer was first produced in 2018 with Weihenstephaner and Sierra Nevada. Now six years later we have the sequel. The two breweries, St. Bernardus and Weihenstephaner have monks as the faces of their beers. The idea behind this unique collaboration was to brew a filtered, strong, top-fermented beer. This beer has Belgian hops from St. Bernardus, yeast, and malt from Weihenstephaner. That sounds like a great combination. This blonde ale pours yellow with a thick two-finger creamy white head. The aroma is spicy, clean, dry, and light banana You really smell the Weihenstephaner yeast. The flavor is clean, dry, banana, and spiced. The banana flavor is a bit more pungent than the rest. This has a medium mouthfeel. The finish is semi-sweet with banana and light hops. The aftertaste is more of the banana with a dryness. This is a fantastic beer. This Braupakt is an A+. Don’t miss this one, either in six-packs or singles. It is delicious. The German yeast and malts go well with the Belgian hops They combine into a great collaborative blonde ale. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Trappist Westvleteren Blond

Trappist Westvleteren Blond is a beer (and the other two) found only at the brewery/gift shop. This is 5.8% ABV and is from Vleteren, Belgium. It is brewed by the monks of the Saint-Sixtus Abby. I brought this and their other beer home from a visit to their restaurant and gift shop. This Blond is the beer that the monks drink. This beer pours yellow with a three-finger creamy white head. That head seems to stick forever. The aroma is sweet, lemon, light bitterness, and slight yeast. The flavor is fruity lemon, smooth, dry, light on hops, and light-bodied. This has a lighter mouthfeel. Then it has a dry fruity finish with some sweetness. The aftertaste is dry-ish, fruity, and refreshing. This Westvleteren Blond is very delicious and is an A. It has such good flavors that all come through/together and make one tasty beer. If you ever get to Vleteren, Belgium I suggest you have a meal with all their beers including this Blond and their ice cream made with their beer. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Brewery Ommagang OMG Series Gnommegang Belgian-Style Blond Ale

This is Brewery Ommegang OMG Series Gnommegange Belgian-Style Blond Ale This ale is 9.5% ABV. This beer was purchased in Culver City, California from Citizens Public Market. Ommegang is located in Cooperstown, New York. This particular Ommegang beer has yeast from a Belgian farmstead Brasserie d’Achouffe. This beer also has Styrian Goldings Hops, Pils, flaked oats, flaked red wheat, and Special B malts. The beer pours a hazy light orange and with a big white three-finger head. The aroma is sweet with banana and yeasty esters. The flavor is similar to the way it smells. There are banana sweet notes, very light hop notes, and spiciness. Gnommegang has a fuller feeling in the mouth. This beer finishes with sweet/spicy fruits. The aftertaste is a lingering of the same. This beer is really delicious, and deserving of a A+. The yeast that is used here really makes the beer great. I highly recommend Gnommegang! Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
