!This beer from Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company in Charleston, South Carolina, is Special Dark. Special Dark is a 5.5% Czech-Style Dark Lager. This beer is not a year-round beer. This dark beer pours almost deep black with a two-finger beige head. The aroma is beady, malted with light sweetness and a coffee scent. The flavor is malty, sweet, and bready, with bitterness on the back of the mouth. The flavor is light overall. This beer has a somewhat medium feel in the mouth. This beer has a light bittersweet malt finish. Then you find a bittersweet coffee aftertaste that doesn’t linger. This is okay, but I found it to have lighter flavors that aren’t bad on their own but not together. All the flavors together give this beer a C+. I would like this beer to have more hardier flavors.
