I bought Big Boss Brewing Co. Trail Guide IPA West Coast Style IPA, 6.5% ABV, and 40 IBUs (International Bittering Units), from my local grocery store. This IPA is from Raleigh, North Carolina. It has Pacific Northwest hops such as Cascade, and Chinook. It also has El Dorado hops. This ale pours a bright yellow color with a two-finger steady white head. The aroma is piney, tropical, fruity, and bitter. The flavor is bitter, piney, tropical with pineapple. Trail Guide has a bitter crispness to it. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side. Then Trail Guide finishes with a crisp pine bitterness. The aftertaste is piney with a faint pineapple flavor. This beer grew on me. The first few sips, I was questioning whether or not, I was going to like it. Well, halfway into it, I started to like it, but in the end, I found I didn’t feel as strongly as I did. I give Big Boss Brewing Co. Trail Guide IPA a low B-. It barely makes it there. I think the crispness clashes with the bitter pine, it is alright otherwise. I would have this again. Please be kind, stay safe, and enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
