Brewery Verhaeghe Duchesse De Bourgogne

This sour Flemish Red Ale is Duchesse De Bourgogne from Brewery Verhaeghe. This Ale is produced in Vichte, Belgium, and is 6% ABV. The beer is matured in serval barrels from a blend of young and old beer. This beer pours a deep red/brown color with a one-finger light beige head. The aroma is sour, fruity, and sweet with some alcohol. The flavor is tart, sour-ish, fruity (cherry-like), and smooth. The taste is reminiscent of light-flavored cherry cola. This beer has a light feeling in the mouth. Then it has a smooth tart and fruity finish. The aftertaste of fruity tart flavor does not linger for long. This beer is delicious and on that is A+. I think this is well-blended and something not to be missed. No flavor is off and/or out of place. I also found this to be refreshing. I hope you do as well. Please stay safe, be kind to each other, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Brouwerij Verhaeghe Ducheese De Bourgogne

This beer, is a Flanders Red-ale style beer produced in Vichte, Belgium Ducheese De Bourgogne. This beer is 6% ABV. After primary and secondary fermentation, this beer matured in oak barrels for eighteen months. Then the final product is a blend of eight-month-old beer with eighteen-month-old beer. This ales meant to honor Duchess Mary of Burgundy. This beer pours a brown color with a three-finger rocky beige head. The aroma is tart, slightly sour, and fruity. The taste is also fruity, sour, and tart. There is a bit of an oak note coming through. The mouthfeel is medium. Then this blended ale comes to a tart finish with nice fruity notes. The aftertaste is pleasant, fruity, tartness, and light sourness. This beer didn’t taste like it looked. By the looks of it I thought it was to taste like a dark beer, but it didn’t taste that way. It was more like a Belgian Lambic. I would highly recommend Ducheese De Bourgogne. It was fabulous. I give Ducheese De Bourgogne an A+. Please stay safe, be kind, and always remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!

Lagunitas Brewing Company 2018 Onehitter Series Eroica

This Lagunitas Brewing Company 2018 Onehitter Eroica, 7.0% ABV a Flanders Red/ traditional farmhouse ale is part of yearly Onehitter series beer from this Petaluma, California brewer and is aged in red wine oak barrels with Brettanomyces yeast. Lagunitas says that Eroica is a golden saison-sour. Eroica pours a deep orange color with a quickly fading half finger white head with fruity aromas that are tart with touches of sourness that lead you into a fruity tart/semi-sour flavor that is a bit alcoholic on the back of the tongue with a nice tarted sour finish and a funky sour tart fruit aftertaste that lingers coating your entire mouth with a light to medium mouthfeel. Lagunitas Brewing Company 2018 Onehitter Eroica is a good beer but the stronger alcoholic notes hold it back just a bit giving this funky beer a B-. I didn’t think the alcoholic noted were that bad, no I just didn’t think it went along with the rest of Eroica’s flavor profile. I might go for this again but not right after finishing the first. It would get to be too much on your taste buds after one or so. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly

Here I have Hi-Wire Brewing Co. Flanders Red, 5.8% ABV. I picked up at Good Bottle Co. (125 Remount Rd) which is a blend of old and new beer. This beer is fermented in freshly dumped white wine barrels than in the bottle, three weeks with Saccharomyces, four months with Brettanomyces, ten months with mixed culture and two and a half months of bottle conditioning. This Flanders Red pours a reddish brown color with a two finger beige head that fades into a thin but fluffy cover giving off nice aroma of cherry notes with touches of vanilla oak and some sourness that leads you to a taste of sour cherry with some hints of vanilla and acidic-ness with faint oaked notes in the rear with a nice tart finish of slight cherry and a tart cherry bandy like aftertaste all with a medium mouthfeel. This is an exceptional beer, it definitely gets an A+. Hi-Wire Brewing is doing amazing sour beers and they are something you should try if you into Sours, especially this Flander Red. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!
