This beer is a collaboration between Phase Three Brewing Company in Lake Zurich, Illinois, and Bottle Logic Brewing in Anaheim, California. This beer is DDH Vanilla Backbox, a double IPA. This beer is 8% ABV, and double-dry hopped with Vanilla, Cryo Citra, Cryo Mosaic, and Galaxy hops. This IPA pours a deep, hazy yellow color with a thick three-finger white head. The head is sticky and leaves lacing. The aroma is sweet, vanilla, and fruity. The flavor is smooth, vanilla, fruity (orange), and bitter. This IPA has a full mouthfeel. This IPA has a smooth, creamy, bitter, and fruited finish. The aftertaste is of bitter fruit that lingers with a light creaminess. I was pleasantly surprised with how smooth this double IPA was. That is due to the use of vanilla. I give DDH Vanilla Backbox an A+. I highly recommend it! It had a great bitter vanilla and fruity flavor that made it a great drinking beer. I don’t think it could be improved. Please stay safe, be kind to everyone, and remember to enjoy responsibly! Cheers!
